Default Lag and jerk going into reverse?

Yesterday in the day i got in my truck and had to change the way it was parked in the drive way. I reversed out and all was fine. I put it in drive and reversed back into my parking lot. When i put it into reverse the second time there was a 1-1.5 second gap in time for the truck to go into reverse. It just felt like the trans. took too long to put it in Reverse.

It was around 1pm and it was probably 45 degrees outside and the first time i started the truck that day. The engine and tranny were cold! I wasnt driving it hard at all or anything and was barely touching the gas. Ive never had that problem in a car.

I waited until it was warmed up good and after like 10minutes i tried it again after driving it a few hundred feet and all was well and the tranny was changing gears fine.

Should i be concerned?

Were you still rolling? I know my truck will either die or will not shift smooth if I am still slightly rolling going from forward to reverse or vice-versa. Just another safety feature brought to you by Toyota (not your safety so much, but the truck's engine and transmission)

Mine does this as well when its cold. I've written it off as normal since the truck is operating at a higher RPM...

Its only happened to me once. I dont think so but its possible i wasnt fully stoped and going the other way a little.

I know the cold engine and Tranny is what caused it. Its just i didnt expect it.

Mine has had a lag when shifting to reverse from day one. Dont seem to be a problem. If it goes out then theres a problem. But i am good for 6yrs or 100,000 miles.

I haven't noticed this problem -- it was 19 here this morning and mine backed out of the garage just fine (garage temp was about 40). I'll check it again tomorrow morning -- put it in reverse stop it and put it in reverse again just to see what happens.
