TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2007 and later Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Airbag sensor noise sucks.....", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Ive searched around and could not find any info on this. I have an 07 Tundra and I carry my gear for work in the passenger front seat. Just enough weight it seems to set off the sensor to make the truck think someone is sitting in the passenger seat. Is there anyway to stop that noise and not the sensor?
You could, buckle the passenger seatbelt, cut a credit card to fit in the seatbelt to fool the truck into thinking the seatbelt is buckled, you could also go by your dealership and ask very very nicely if they will disable the seatbelt chime. Several people on here have had this done at the dealership and I am going to try to get them to do mine this week.
My dog rides with me a lot and it thinks there is a person in the seat not wearing a seatbelt.
Good luck.
Also try a search for seatbelt chime and you will get a ton of good info on this.
TSRaidernation: The passenger airbag has a switch to turn it off - at least mine does. If you don't have a switch, you have to put the items on the seat first before starting the truck, so the occupant classification system can go through it's detection mode and beep it's head off at you.

So we don't add to the confusion, ONLY the regular cabs have an airbag off switch.
Again, DCs and CrewMaxes DO NOT have an off switch for the airbags...
Your dealer can shut the chime off for you for good.

Thanks for the responses. Im not trying to disable a safety feature to endanger someone. I have a DC and I rarely have people in it. Just my gear up front usually. Anyone who rides with me wears a seatbelt or the truck doesnt move. I will go down and ask the stealership this weekend. Thanks again.
I must not have searched using the right key words. I was searching for airbag sensor and not seatbelt info.
I know...but just so you know, your dealer can shut off the annoying chime for you. I had them do mine on the passenger side (I hear they can also to the driver's side). Only shuts off the noise, but the airbag will still work as it should.

Whenever my dog is with me, she just won't do up the seatbelt! Even if I ask nicely. So I used to listen to about 20 seconds of ding ding ding before it would be quiet. But now I never have to hear the ding at all.
My mod? Volume + on stereo.
