Yes, the speaker specifications are as follows:
- dash speakers (2” pieces of crap)
- front door speakers (6”x9” pieces of crap)
- rear door speakers (6.5” pieces of crap)
The fronts can be replaced with good 6.5” speakers. I have a CrewMax, so the rear speakers may be different in the double-cab, but I think they’re the same. In any case, the stock speakers are completely crap, so it is good that you’re replacing them!
I put an entire system in my DC. The place that installed them routered the old speakers out to use the cut out for depth clearance for new speakers. Worked out great and sounds unbelievable. Included with all new door and dash speakers, I put 2 more 6x9's under the back seat and put a 10" shallow sub under the seat too, with an amp under passenger seat, XM, 12-disc changer, rear camera, Pioneer AVIC -D3 nav system. I am in sound heaven now.

I agree the factory speakers are basically crap, however after changing out the head unit (to an Alpine CDA-9887) I was really surprised how much better it sounded. I'd taken some data from the factory radio (I posted it in another thread) and found a highly exagerrated response around 40-50Hz (even with the bass turned all the way down to -5). I'm running a subwoofer so I set the high-pass to the factory fronts & rears at 83Hz (I think that's where I left them). In my opinion it sounds way better than with the factory head unit.
I have better speakers to install; just haven't gotten around to that yet.
