TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2007 and later Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Oh my.......can irony somehow be sweet?", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
The new tailgate is a joke, an outright joke. You pull off that cheap and cheezy tailgate protector from the factory and there's no metal under it. The plastic tailgate protector IS the top of the tailgate and a structural piece I guess...I was really disappointed when I ripped mine off. It's so soft if you actually use it for what it was designed for - to protect the tailgate while hauling stuff it shreds pretty easy. I stack 10'x10' timbers up there and in a matter of days it looked like someone took a utility knife and sliced it to pieces.
Is this correct? The top of the tailgate is plastic?
My new 2008 GMT900 Regular Cab Long Bed.
Drive shaft replaced.
Vibration at all speeds but most pronounced at 50-60 MPH.
Warranty.
I was told that I have a bad torque converter. They are ordering me one to install. 19000 mi
I have the same problem..and they are too replacing my TQ converter today
I have been doing some research and this may be a common problem.
I got the truck back today and the vibration is still there. The dealer has pretty much washed their hands of the problem by referring me to the TSB regarding the vibration. TSB #06-06-05-001A-(3/20/2007)
Now it is torque converters dying out?? C'mon...what's next with the NBS trucks???
It's funny you say that because i swear at times i have the same "rumble strip"

That's why I find it hilarious that owners of other makes have been dancing so gleefully at Tundra's issues. It's almost like, "HA HA! Your truck breaks TOO!" Kinda self-damning, IMO I simply bought a Toyota hoping it would break LESS. In my case, that has been the case for 8,000 miles.
It seems like there is no quality control anymore. Vehicles are rushed to market to compete and save money on prolonged testing, and the consumer pays the price. Oh well, such is life!
Yep, I was being Nelson!!!! I'm glad I'm not the only adult that likes to HA HA at people
Its a lot of fun until you do it to a 7 foot tall guy driving a Mini and he makes you pull your pants down and makes you walk while he drives behind you and honks... lol

Do you find it humurous that I'm so tall and I drive such a small car? (Or something like that in a funny drawn out voice)
I like the one post about the 20,000 motors being replaced because of camshaft failures, he just multiplied the actual number by 1000. Also not being discussed that most of the "problems" the Tundra has had are the result of part suppliers not producing parts up to specifications, ie: camshafts, driveshafts, etc.

I don't think there's one model of vehicle in it's production period that didn't have at least one transmission issue, be it a honda, toyota, nissan, ford, chevy, chrysler, etc.
EVERY car has problems eventually, like it or not. The difference is whether the problem is related to a random defective part or if it's an engineering flaw. Toyota and honda have the least amount of engineering flaws in their vehicles by far.
