TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2007 and later Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Stolen Key", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Unfortunately, the holidays bring out the greed in certain classes of people. There enlies my problem...My truck was broken into on Christmas Eve and several items were stolen including a sentimental gift from my wifes 92yr old grandmother & one being a spare key that I use on cold days. I hope she gets another Christmas with her Grandmother!!!
I am going to have the door & ignition of my '07 Tundra rekeyed and would like to know if there is a way to reprogram the keyless entry (without buying another device for my keychain) so that the key & remote pad they have will no longer work.
Wonder why didn't they take the truck?
The key has an engine immobilizer transmitter built into it, so you'll have to get all new keys with a different transmitter and reprogram the engine immobilizer. Additionally, if you want to avoid this guy breaking into your truck, you'll need new key fob door unlockers and probably a new program for the receiver -- but you'll need the dealer to do that for you. Total cost = a lot. Probably worth going with insurance

This majorly sucks, but I think TundraBay is right...this is going to cost some major duckets to fix. Of course if you do nothing and they steal it, then you'll just get a new 08 or later model. I personally wouldn't go that route. Consider hiding out in the bushes instead and exercise your right to bare arms in order to improve the gene pool in the nation. Our nation's judicial system is too incompetent to trust they could be rehabiliated if every caught and apprehended.
Bummer, I had my house broken into in Aug. and it was horrible. Thank God I have good insurance. The worst things that were stolen were my computer, wife's jewelery, and believe it or not KEYS. The A-holes took my key box. Tundra keys, BMW Keys, and house keys, parents house keys and neighbors. The tundra cost me $1400 keys and labor, BMW cost $700 plus $600 for labor. Thank god they didn't come back for the cars. By the way you insurance may cover the Keys themselves, but not the Labor. My advice put you keys in a safe, if you don't have one go get one and put them in it. Good luck
Ok, Get An Auto Lock Brake Lock And It Won't Go Anywhere In The First Place....59.00. STILL CHEAPER THAN 1400. JUST TAKES ALL THAT GRUELING EFFORT TO PUT IT ON AND TAKE IT OFF. I USE IT RELIGIOUSLY SINCE THEY CAME OUT, NON OF MY TOYS HAVE BEEN BORROWED.
