B68,

I was in the same boat. I mainly wanted to turn the DRL off when I was hunting/camping/off roading. I do like having the DRL on when I'm highway driving. Anyway, there is a way to turn your DRL off.

Set your parking brake. Turn off the engine. Start it back up - the DRLs will be off.

If you only set your parking brake to the first click prior to shutdown, you should be able to run w/o DRL and not do harm to your rig (from a trusted Toyota tech's mouth). I only use this setting when I'm off road -don't know how this would affect your MPG. If you want to do this on-road, likely the brake pads would quickly wear and not be a large drag on your wheels free spinning.

Let me know if this works for you like it did for me.

Tight Lines.
