TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2007 and later Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Ok, I am now thinking twice about this decision", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I have a 2wd 07 DC 5.7 shortbed. I thought long and hard at the dealership about 2wd of 4wd and i just could justify me spending the extra money on something i know i would never use. The only off-roading i do is on the beach during the summer time. I just ordered a toytec 3" lift. I also put a $100.00 deposit on some black KMC 20 in wheels and some 35 12.05 r20 at discount tire. I am now debating this decision because I am wondering if its not very practical for me to lift my 2wd truck. I mean of course it looks awesome but this is also my daily driver. I drive 20 minutes to and from work 5 days a week.
I cant make up my mind about this so maybe you all can help me out a bit

Just my personal opinion, but lifting a 2WD is a waste of money. Looks are about all you get. When people see it is 2WD they arent going to care if it is lifted to the sky with 44's.

I really dont care what others think. Its gonna be debaged and unless you look under it you cant tell. I just figured the bigger tires would help me out on the sandy beaches.
Re: Ok, I am now thinking twice about this decision
OK OK the bigger tires probably WOULD help you a bit on sandy beaches. But it sure will be embarrassing if you get stuck, and someone suggests putting it into 4WD and you look at the dash -- and there's no button.

lifting a 2wd is kind of eating money. like lowering a 4wheel drive would be, for something?
add a snorkel with your lift, ha.
leave it be is my opinion.

LOL, yeah. Deflate the stock tires and go in 4WD. 2WD get stuck and look like an idiot. No offense OP, but you are talking out of both sides of your mouth. You dont wanna spend unnecessary money, but you'll lift a 2WD and put bigger tires on it?
