Post Motor Trend's 2008 Truck of the Year!

I just received this months Motor Trend magazine and the Toyota Tundra won 2008 Truck of the Year! Considering the competition in this years comparison (all HD versions from Ford and GMC) it's a good feeling to know I made the right decision! I love my Tundra!

There's no question the Tundra is the best 1/2-ton truck on the market, but the Motor Trend awards, especially the Truck of the Year award, means nothing to me.

Is the article in the magazine different than the short piece they wrote up in the press release? They mentioned very little about the actual performance of the truck when towing or hauling, things that matter a great deal to owners. It's the worst car mag out there. In all honesty, for real truck rankings check out more focused magazines that will focus on towing, hauling and utility rather than the car mags.

Pretty funny that there was no mention of it on the cover or the index in the mag.

Motor Trend really has no credibility on the truck of the year award. Their criteria is totally stupid. What they need to do is award "truck of the year" to the 1/2 ton / 3/4 ton / 1-ton individually. Additionally they need to do a more in-depth analysis which is more geared towards the mechanical side, and then the end user side. Right now their truck of the year award is based on fluff and touchy-feely.

I still believe my CM Tundra is the best of its class, but that is how Motor Trend needs to do it-BY CLASS.

Motor trend also gave the 2000 Tundra that title too but you know what it's not a big deal breaker in my opinion. It just take the big 3 a few more year's to play catch up and Beet the Tundra at it's old game. Chevy for the same madder also recieved 2007 Truck of the Year because Toyota was too late to the game on testing...

They did have a towing comparison and rankings for each truck displaying unloaded and loaded performance.

Since this is my first truck purchase, I am not familiar with all the "focused" truck magazines. Any suggestions?
