TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2007 and later Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Diablosport Predator", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
there is a thread going at diablos webpage forum. about a tuner for the tundras. definitely nothing concrete. but here is a reply from one of the diablo guys, that sounds prety good. alot more promisig than anything we ever heard about the SRT8's. and we still managed to get a tuner for it.
Again, this is an application we would like to cover.
We have been looking into it, and I think we may even have some backing from a certain division of Toyota. Keep an eye out for updates on new products in 08.
Thanks

How does Diablosport rank against the other tuner manufacturers.
i dont know about other trucks. but they have been the only company able to break into the computer on the chrysler LX cars. and thats enough for me to put my faith in them. i have the predator for my SRT8. and it woke the car right up.
one thing they have over other companies. is the ability to dial in your tune. once you install your canned tune. you can datalog with the predator for a short drive. and then email the results to one of their CMR tuners. and they tweak your tune, until its just right. and its only like 160$. you could dial in a hypertech on a dyno. but your looking at 500$ for the dyno time.

and sign up, and post a quick reply saying you are interested too. the more they hear people want it. the more inclined they will be to get it rolling.

Quite a few GM diesel guys like the Predator, it stacks up well against the competition and is only $300 delivered to your door. I have one for my truck, it can load performance programs, recalibrate the speedo for bigger tires, raise the speed limiter, reset codes when the CEL comes on and give you real time data. Pretty impressive product!
Meaning toyota has a lock on their ecm and they are trying to pay toyota to have rights to be able to change values in the computer.

I had a predator tune on both my 01 Lightning and 03 Cobra, they are a pretty solid solution, of course all the good/bad will depend on who actually does the tune if you go the custom route.

there is only a few shops that can do the custom tunes. and they have to be approved by diablo. so i wouldnt have any concerns with the customs tunes.

this would obviously be the easiest route. but if toyota doesnt want to give up the codes. then diablo will just hack it. like they do with every other, of their applications.
and if they can hack the chrysler ecm. i have faith they can hack into anything.

Toyota's ECM coding encryption is very strong. I've observed this with a Lexus SC300 computer I pulled the rom data from. Those Japanese guys know their stuff and it's nothing like you've ever seen from all the other manufacturers - I'd have to give the person who can crack it lots of credit.
