Default Shift Knob Question

Does anyone know what the Shift Knob Thread Size is for a 2007 Tundra Crewmax? I have an uncle that is going to make me a couple of different designs for a shifter and wanted me to ask. Thanks!

Just make sure the design incorporates a sleeve for the long shaft so that you can avoid the lollipop on a thin stick look.

Decided to try the leather shift knob out of my wife's 2004 4Runner, perfect fit (same shaft size and thread). Liked it so well I bought her a universal knob and keep this one!

It screws off. Turn counter-clockwise.

Beside the shifter to the left is a TAB to lift with a screwdriver. Under is a lock release. Place the emergency brake on and put it in Neutral. Turn the shift knob counter-clockwise until it becomes loose.

Why go through all that? The knob simply unscrews from the top of the shaft. The TAB is so that you can manually release the shifter in case pressing the brake doesn't do it (like it normally does).

Am I the only guy that bought the factory upgraded shift knob? I just really liked the looks of it and it feels great when I'm playing the shifting game, haha!

Releasing the lock and putting it in neutral is required to expose more of the shaft so that replacement knobs with a long shaft cover like the TRD shifter can be screwed on while grabbing the shaft at the base with a pair of pliers. I would imagine that putting too much torque on the shaft isn't too good for whatever is in there.

your not the only one i just bought one and i'm sure i will like it over the standard one.
just waiting for it to get here from sparks.
has anyone else thought of possibly just having someone lets say a leather upholstery shop just recover the factory one?? is that possible.
i'm no expert on recovering but it would be cool to have it covered in the color of your interior.

That shift knob from your 4runner looks just like the knob on my wifes 06 solara. I bought one on ebay for 8 dollars. I turned my knob with the big part to the back seems to fit my hand better.

With everyone talking about how much they hate the stock shift knob and are so worried about putting a different one on because the shaft is so long, Im very surprised to to see that knowone has just simply cut the shaft down and rethread it.
