It's a real pain having to fill up every 250 miles. I don't like letting my gas get down too low. My F150 had an 18 and a 20 gallon tank, I could go over 500 miles without having to stop for gas. My Tundra gets better gas mileage, so a 38 gallon tank would be sweet.

Further experimentation with 91 Octane: boosts mileage just about 12% when I'm not towing, (16 MPG with 87, 18 MPG with 91) about 20% when towing (8.2 to 10 MPG).

Cost here is about 10% more ($1.35 per liter vs $1.22) so it is worth it even if it's just longer between fill-ups.

Try it you'll like it! If you only get an extra 50 miles (430 instead of 380) it's almost as good as a 5 gallon bigger gas tank!

Any thing at all in the news on these gas tanks. I think this is taking to long, may buy a 50 gal. in bed tank from Northern. Not gas certified but for my own use.

Here Is The latest Information:

We just updated our 2008 Tundra today with our new and improved canister assembly. We now need to monitor the engine purging cycle and try and confirm the truck is purging more vapor out of the OEM canister. If this goes ok then we will decide if we will then haul the truck back down to the emissions lab for re-test. I will hold your emails and follow up with you as we get new updates.

Sorry this is moving slowly but the emissions system on this chassis is much different than the one on the GM or Ford chassis.

More to follow (hopfully sooner than later)

I'm in too if someone make the tank to replace the OEM one.

Amazing! You think that you are the only one thinking this is a problem and there are already many out there questioning the same thing! I went to Toyota about a month ago with another problem in my 08 CM and mentioned that it only takes 19.2 gal when BELOW E. They diagnosed the problem as a short in the fuel sending unit, replaced it, then said that it should read correctly now. Yeah right, same thing. I can't wait for this tank to come out. It is definitely a bummer when you are out in the middle of nowhere and you have already used up all the fuel you brought. Another 15 gallons would be just about perfect! Put me on the list

Please keep us posted! I'm definitely in, too. I'm sending Transfer Flow an email NOW! My business requires frequent day trips exceeding 200 - 300 miles, and the 26 gal. tank just doesn't cut it, especially coming from an F250 with the 36 gal. tank. Considering all the room under my long bed, it's kind of foolish that Toyota didn't at least offer the large tank as an option.

There are a lot of considerations in making a spare, or even a larger tank for gasoline vehicles. I'm no expert, but first, there's the emissions system that may possibly require re-calibration of the ecm and/or other considerations of carrying a larger volume of fuel and air (when the fuel is used up). Next, is the safety consideration. Our trucks were certified by the government to be up to necessary safety standards with the stock tanks. Adding another tank could possibly be illegal and raise liability concerns in the case of an accident. Remember, this is a highly flammable liquid we're dealing with here. Since diesel isn't nearly as flammable, there are a lot more options available to diesel drivers. In an accident, a heavy piece of equipment crashing into a bed-mounted diesel tank causes a big mess.... a gasoline tank becomes a big bomb.

I watched the supercharger installation video on youtube last night and it looks to me like the fuel pump/sending unit could drop right into a larger fuel vessel, but again, there might be some re-calibration of the ecm or replacement of emissions components.
