Okay finally got my cheap DVD headrest units in the mail the other day since the holiday week hosed up delivery times and I decided to put them in real quick to test things out. I picked these up from a ebay seller for just under 350.00 shipped so I didn't think that was bad at all for what I got. This kits included 2 headreast with 7" widescreen mounted, 2 wireless remotes, 2 wireless headphones, 2 hard wires headphones, and all needed wiring and adapters.
For a quick review the units also allow for playback of different DVD's per unit and also has build in FM transmitter to broadcast audio from each of the units so you can play it through the stock headunit if you wanted too. I just thought for the price its was worth a try to see how they hold up.
So far a quick test, things look good on the screen and the FM transmitters work okay for what it is and also the headphones work fine too. It also has video and audio outputs that you can wire to each other if you want to play the same DVD on both screens or maybe want to feed it into another source like the stock NAV perhaps on the reverse video input as other have done already. The tan color I got matches pretty darn close to my stock seats as you will see in the pics it is liek maybe a shade off but most people probably wont even notice it. Well let me know what you all think of have any other questions.
Well on to pics since I know that what most here like.
IMO that looks pretty darn good, especially for the price. Did they have it in beige with cloth headrests? Do the work yourself? Any snags or flaws in the equipment they provided you? Once again, nice setup.
Have you tested the DVD playback when on rough roads?? How long did it take to wire the power suply?
Looks good!

Ahh they had only the leather ones in beige, gray and black I think it was. Yes did the work myself in the driveway took maybe 15 mins a side to run wires down through the seat and plug the wires down and connect it under the seat and maybe another 30 mins to wire it but I still need to clean that up when it warms up more but for now I did a quicky connection under the seat and used the supplied cig. lighter adapter and just plugged it in the rear one when need to use these and it worked fine. No problems yet so far but only time will tell.

Have not tested much since I finished it this afternoon and didn't go any where yet, I did tap/shake on the seat some to see if there was any issues but it just keep going fine. I'll be sure to post a follow up later on once I have more time to test things out. Oh they do have a nice feature were they will remember were the DVD was once you un-plug them and when you go to turn them back in they come on and start playing were you left off in the movie.
I just thought that the price was very good for everything included in the package I got so decided to be the first to test it out I guess, seen other deals for upwards of 1000.00.

Not the same units I got but similar, like I said many others out there on ebay but some are coming from as far away as china and you may have to pay extra for import taxes or lots for shipping so be sure to read the ad well. Since I been asked by a few PM's here a link to the guy I got mine from and also it seems he got about 5 to sell still and may have more. Just remember don't blame me if you don't get what you want or have any issues after purchase.
Nice picture for that price! great alternative for Invision headrests!
I agree and the cost is about 1/3 compared to the factory units or Invision units. I just hope that they hold up well over time but from what I can tell there quality looks good so far.
NOTE: If you get a different unit make sure it has the right post sizes, they are not all the same. The units I got came with the smaller ones and larger ones, we required the larger ones to be used but I don't know the size but guess I could get a size if anyone requires it.
Quick update....
Well made a few small trips and just let them run while no one was back there to watch but they seem to not skip or have any issues yet. I then just let it sit in the driveway and run while I was in the garage working on another DIY Tundra project, to the end of a movie on each headrest or till the cig. lighter adapter power cut off. Which I think is around 2 hours from what I have read here. All is still working well but this is no long term test yet but just wanted to give everyone a quick update while I was thinking about it today.
still the best bang for the buck option I think......
The ebay auction suggests front inputs including RCA jacks and SD card input. I don't see anything like that on the units you received...do you have any inputs?

Looks good, too bad they don't have them in cloth. Is it the same as the factory headrest? or is it another one that fits? I really don't like the angle of the factory headrests. Add to that, the fact that they don't adjust.
Now you have to get another pair for the rear seat headrests. Can you say hatervision?

I dont think these would look to bad even if you have the cloth seats. These don't have any adjustments other than hight of the headrest, but I am sure if you look around you can find some that may.

Oh sorry, Yes there inputs and outputs wires all snake down the headrest tubes and are under the seat and you can tie in there or add connection from there to say the front screen if you mod for the screen to come on in place of the backup camera as a few have done. You could also add the audio up front to the AUX input too if you didn't want to use the built in FM modulators. There also no SD card connector as you had asked ealier. You could also inter connect the 2 DVD headrests so they can watch whats playing in the other DVD headrest if you wanted too. You could also feed another source in like a video game console to the headrest if you wanted.
Not sure if I missed it, but do they have an audio input where I could plug headsets directly into the unit? I was thinking about getting a little speaker one would use with an mp3 player so she doesn't have to wear headphones?
