I noticed there was a crack in my windshield on the way home this evening ...thank god its not leaking from all of the rain. I am not sure how it happened...most likely road debris..but the crack is slowly spidering accross my windshield. Anyone have any idea how much its going to cost for a new windshield as well as installation. I live in Chino and was wondering if anyone knew of a great glass installer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Do you have insurance on the vehicle? If you do, call your insurance company and ask them what the deductible is for a windshield. You should read your policy first and you will know. Tell them the windshield is cracked and needs replaced. They should tell you to get it repaired and then all you should have to do is give the glass company your insurance information and pay the deductible. I have done this a bunch living in Alaska for the past 25 freaking years.

Mine was about $900 total with the heated wiper park area (part of the 'cold package') but I have a $250 deductible so I filed an insurance claim.
It's going to cost a lot more then your deductible.
Depending on where you live, I'd wait to have it fixed until winter is over. The last thing you want is another rock thrown up on a new windshield. Plus, in snow country, all the sand that's put down on the road over time puts 1,000s of little pits in the windshield.
Most decent insurance companies offer you a lower deductible on your windows and if you have a good agent he might not even asked if you wanted it just added it. My policy reads if they can repair the window its free if they have to replace it your deductible is a $100.
I am pretty sure our office uses Triumph Auto glass as one of our vendors for the San Diego area but if I remember right they are state wide.
Well, I have All State on both my leased BMW and the Tundra but I don't see anything on my policy stating glass coverage for either. I called a few places today and the best price I got installed was $371. I can't imagine what it would be if I had the crewmax with the cold weather package. Most companies were saying that there isn't an aftermarket windshield out yet, and that is why the glass was so expensive. I am going to call my insurance agent on Monday and see if I have it. I obviously will then have to pay full out of pocket. You can bet I will be adding glass coverage to both vehicles. Thanks for the posts.

I have a trick I have been using for years that involves safelite. They make a great windshield, and there are ways you can entirely negotiate the the price, to almost anything you need. They have a policy over the phone that states they have to beat any competitor. I don't want to ruin my good thing, though. So, drop me a line at lono33@comcast.net for details. Living in Colorado, we have to replace windshields about every two years.

I have ALWAYS had ZERO deductible on glass coverage. I have never owned a vehicle that didn't need the front glass replaced at one time or another. I am amazed that so many here don't have glass coverage and ZERO deductible at that. It's not much more per year.
BTW I have heard some paying as much as $1400 to replace a windshield on a new Tundra with the cold package.

well I've got a Tundra with a cracked windshield and I have a limited crewmax with cold package. I still haven't gotten it done yet. They came to replace it and couldn't because the window also needs the left and right moldings... which means more $$$$.
