Okay did I say I am impatient, well I went in to garage and went ahead an re-assembled the handle covers onto the handles and installed them today and I must say took maybe 5mins per side to remove and put the painted ones on. I took a few pics to share but excuse the dirty truck it hasn't been washed in weeks now.
Let me know how you think they look on the truck now.
Handles and covers wating for assembly......
Handle and painted cover assembled.....
On to some pics of them installed on the truck.....
Handles are not something I would personally attempt with a spray bomb since they see so much traffic...gotta get that baked on clearcoat to stand up to grabby hands, IMO
Is your truck dirty, or do the handles look a bit darker than the rest of the truck? Even so, I think the colorkeyed look is nice You should peel off your pillar stickers now.

Yeah guess the door handles will get a bit more traffic but only time will tell how the last. I would think it wont be to bad since when you grab your handle most of the force is on the back side since your pulling the handle and that parts not painted.
For the cost I figured if it gets bad after a while I would just redo them and next time use a 2 part clear thats as tough as what the body shops use if not tougher now on the tundra uses the environmental friendly paint that is so thin now a days.
As for removing the pillar stickers I am considering that today .... hmmm just not sure yet but if I do I will post up some pics for sure.
I agree, I think it was a good idea to give it a shot! I'm eager to see how they hold up If they are tuff, I'd like to think about doing this with my silver interior pieces (match the exterior!)

IMO - keep the pillar stickers.... unless there is some way to trim the bottom window trim..... this trim extends too far and causes a black line between the pillar and the body.... I think it looks better with the black stickers..... unless, like TH, you have a black truck - then the argument is null and void....

Worse comes to worst, you can always put the chrome ones back on.
Do you have advice/pics on how to remove the handles?
Actually ther have been a few writeup with pics some where on this site and if you search around I am sure you find it.
But its was really easy to remove the handles first remove the black plug you see inside the door (latch area) parallel to the handle itself inside you will find a T-30 torx screw best part is this is held in place with a clip you can not accidently have it fall off so just loosen and pull the thumb cap off then its a simple grab the handle and push toward the rear of the truck and it pops right out. This will make much more sense after you do one of them. The only one thats different is the drivers side that has the lock in it and that comes out with the thumb cap and you just have to un-snap that, you will see the snap once you have it out.
The hardest part after this is removing the darn covers from the handles, there is a single phillips head screw on each one that the factory has applied some damn strong loctite too so be carefull not to strip it or your into some work to get it off them. Ask me how I know there is alwasy that one screw that doesn't want to come out.
Let me know if you need any more advise, hopefully this helped answer your questions some.

Yeah people have been painting interior parts for ever now and the ones I seen seem to hold up pretty darn well. The secrets to give the paint and clear time to dry well, so be carefull around them till they do. Plus with summer sun and interior temps that stuff will bake on even harder in the end. Oh I have also used color vinyl to wrap interior pieces before and it holds up well and is cheap to do since a roll of that stuff only a few bucks and goes a along ways. Also if you change your mind in the end you just have to pull it off and clean it up and back to stock. I am looking for maybe a roll that would match my color better and wrap the chrome mirror covers so not to damage them and I think that would hold up better than paint on them covers due to how much stuff gets kicked up at the mirrors.
Oh yeah not sure if the iterior on mine look to good with Blue Streak interior parts, atleast I can't picture it not looking to tacky but maybe a glossy black would look good doh.
I was about to ask, as I was messing with my spare ones. That screw is IN THERE. I havent got mine to budge yet.
I have to agree there in there tight, I think Toyota didn't expect anyone to remove the covers.
Just make sure you have a good phillips head screw driver thats not damaged and the right size (not to small or it will strip quickly) Try tightening a few turns too then try to loosen again. I used my screw gun with the tourqe setting pretty low and went from tight to loosen this way is was like using a small impact gun on it to help loosen up that darn loctite stuff they used. One one of mine it stripped before I learned and I ended up drilling it out and going to the hardware store to get a few extra screws for it.
