I used my little black and decker power screw driver, and held the button down as I turned myself. Got them both out w/o stripping. Now just gotta wait for the paint to arrive...
I was at Toyota Headquaters last week (I'm toyota vendor/business partner) And happen to see the 2008 Sequoia which has PAINTED DOOR HANDLES TO MATCH THE BODY. I would think that, these handles should fit my CM, being that the SUV is based off it.

Yes I too was at the dealer this morning and saw the same so if you don't want to paint your handles you can probably buy them from the Sequoia once there avaliable like many have done with the chrome handles. Maybe someone will ask Sparks Toyota and see if they can get them color matched already. Atleast some of the colors are avaliable that match the Tundra colors.
I must say, that looks beauti-fullllll!!! man Toyota should have done that from the start!!!!!
awsome job on that WT, the match looks to be perfect.
Mark
Thanks all for the compliments its not to hard to do its just someone got to be the first to do it and take pictures.
Also Mark I had to have something to help match that color coded grill I got from you guys in the past...
Guess I ask for the other guys here are you guys planning or looking into getting the color match ones from the Sequoia in the future, that would save some of the folks here from painting since the Sequoia does come in the same colors as the Tundra's ?
My handle that I tried to do in salsa red turned out horribly. The black texture never really left, even after I sanded. I am thinking of using a sandable primer and trying it again tomorrow. I think the primer is made to fill on top of itself, so after a few good coats, it will not only provide a good surface to adhere to for the base, but allow me something to sand smooth. That plastic sucks! Any thoughts?
Josh
Also, I have a theory as to why the color is looking darker. We just did Mike's and I did mine today and it was slightly darker. The black from the stock finish is showing through some, so I am going to use a light grey primer or possibly white to help the color stand out!

Josh,
I PM you some ideas but as for the color your probably right you may want to use the light gray primer since the black maybe makign it look a shade darker for sure. As for the sandable primer that help fill things in just do a good sanding job to smooth it all out, just make sure you have a few good coats of primer down before sanding. then you can lay down the first color coats and then clear coats.
im definetly going with the Sequoia handles, so much easier, AND cheaper as far as i can see. My time can be better spent doing something else, possibly darkening my headlights?!!

Unfortunately, I would LOVE to do the same thing, but of course my color isn't an option on the new Sequoia!!!!

Nice job WT! these are the things that Toyota left out to keep up profits and to allow for future model upgrades. That clear should hold up well enough, the reg clear and hardener would be better. Very nice
I hear the color matched grills can be had cheap at the dealers.
I did a quick sand with some wet dry 600 grit to rough it up a little wiped them down with some grease and wax remover set them up on my home made jig (2X4 scrap and screw)
Sprayed promoter and allowed a dry time of about 15 min between coats and then wait roughly same or longer before first color base coat and 15 mins of flash time between base coats too. Clear coats the same as base coats but I gave the base coat overnight to dry and then did the clear today.
All the information is actually on the cans of paint. As for were I sourced the paint I tried a new company this time since last time I used another company for some paint for my bike it was a shade off, so I went with: Automotivetouchup.com Touch Up Paint, Aerosol Spray Paint and Paint Touch Up Accessories Also this is were I got all my paint supplies in the first picture from. Best I can suggest is light coats at first then a few good smooth coats after that. If you think you may also have issue with dust particles may want to get a tack rag to remove dust between coats or prior to first coats.
Ok, ordered my supplies...I can paint the parts in my garage if I have to. I'll get er done!
Thanks for the link and I will post pics when I'm done.
