no it will not. the parts that are painted do not actually reflect light, at least not in a functional way. the reflective surface that is painted black is purely for looks.
if you use the correct type of paint, it will not melt and will not chip off.
It varies from between 9 to 12 minutes as I read all these posts.

I baked for 10 minutes for disassembly and then 8 minutes for reassembly.

I had no smells afterwards. The "re-bake" just softens up the adhesive again and makes reassembly much easier. I did lay a thin bead of clear silicone in the groove around the light before putting it all back together. I have no condensation problems at all.

and is this going to make my oven reak of chemicals/glue etc?
you get a bit of chemical smell in the house when you do it... but it was not noticable for me in the oven or the kitchen by the next day.

but if you do it too much....well, i dont have to explain the level of a sadness a melted headlight will bring upon you.
This quote had me laughing my @$$ as i pictured someones face at this moment in time. Then i relized Oh No i shouldnt laugh at that atleast tell after i get this done.
Im going to do this mod on tue so i just reading all these post and about to watch the video. Its on a green 08 havent seen one yet but ehh i know black will look good on it, just havent decided on gloss/flat.
Should you clean the old adhesive off and put new adhesive on, or do you mix new adhesive with the old ?
I put a thin bead of silicone in the groove and left the old adhesive. 7-8 more miuntes in the oven wil soften the old adhesive enough to make reassembly much easier.

i wana try this mod this weekend. also i want to do my front emblem. how do you take the front toyota emblem off. And is it the same prep and paint procedure. Just scuff it up first wash then spray with a few coats and let dry.
Aswell what black did most people use flat, semi gloss, or glossy? thanks!

Open the hood, look at the emblem from the back, top part of emblem has two snaps and then push out. I think the flatter the paint the better.
thanks alot......really appreciate it. this is guna be a fun weekend mod.
