Like I said before.... and others are saying. It is VERY EASY... and worth doing. I just did my buddies Tacoma , this is my second one, and it looks great.
006 just want to say thank you for the excellent write-up.
This weekend was the best time to do this for me, and I took my time. I can't argue with the results, the headlights look fantastic now.
However, can anyone suggest what I might do to correct this issue?
When removing the goop (baked for 15 mins @ 250-275 (I cant trust my oven), re-assembled the headlights, re-baked, then fully re-assembled. I have this little problem going on (see pic).

Sorry I can not seem to tell what is wrong here? Can you elaborate?

I got done, and noticed that the "gray-goop" (I swear, I think Toyota kept the grey-goop manufacturers in business on my headlight assembly alone) oozed outside the little groove upon reassembly.
It appears to be cosmetic, but I'm curious if others have had this happen and how did you clean it up? Or would the consensus is that I need to disassemble and re-do the lights making sure the goop is where it should be as not to leak.
Edit: Everone's pictures looked so clean and tidy where I got the goop-ooze. Am I looking too much or does everyone have that goop oozage to some degree?

I think yours looks just as good as everyone elses. If you really wanted to you can fix it but I still see no problem with yours.

I am in the process of the black headlight mod! Just waiting for the paint to dry so I can reassemble. Thanks for the video post and write up 006! I'll post some pics when its finished
After reading the numerous posts about people doing this mod I think I might finally muster up the courage to give it a go this week. Any consensus on what is the best paint to use to match the black grille and mirrors...brand and finish? Also the best sealant to re-seal with? I live in the rainy and always wet northwest so the best sealant to prevent moisture and fogginess getting inside the headlights? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
PROBLEM (as usual with anything i do myself!) - Okay so i did the mod, looks great and all, while installing the bracket back into the casing, scratched 2 spots of paint.. Got over that; i then realised that the cloth i used to clean the inside of the plastic casing left some cotton dust on - Got over that then the big problem arrives!!! Washed the truck and approximately half of the light fogged up!!! - Good news is, all these problems were encountered only on the right headlight (minus the sratches which was on both) - Bad news is.. its P'ng me off!! - Anyone encountered such problems? Secondly, is the paint ever going to start chipping down the road because this is extremely worrying.. I scuffed as much as i could off the chrome but im still worried!
