double cabs--looking good! (from a domestic owner)
just wanted to say that for a while now, i've been eyeballing tundras whenever i see one, and this evening, i saw a white doublecab parked in a dealer lot...i really like the looks of these
as someone who drives a ford, i'm foremost a 'car guy' in that i've always appreciated well-designed automobiles...i've been active over here for a few months because i like reading about vehicles that interest me...i've talked some cool people here, and i'll admit that i'm starting to 'get' you guys that bought these things to race...i can see the attraction to having some decent displacement paired to a 6-spd trans, even if it's used to go fast rather than pull/haul like i'm accustomed to doing with a pickup
occasionally, i see the 'brand x sucks' comments, which i see on all the boards i frequent, or sometimes incorrect or just misunderstood info about ford or domestics, and i often reply and attempt to clear things up when i can...but overall, it's a friendly board
anyhow, carry on...just wanted to compliment (and no offense to the crewmax owners, i like those too, just saying that the double cab caught my attention enough to want to post)

I come from a long line of domestics. Now I drive a white dc! It is good lookin and although it will go fast, it is a great daily driver if you are not prone to whining about milage.
Why should YOU buy a Tundra? Who is John Galt?

I own a DC and love it! I am also a car buff. It is nice to see that not everyone is brand oriented. I also looked at the domestics and was not impressed with the offerings or the type of service I have gotten in the past from GM. I am sure the others will eventually step up thier game but in my opinion Toyota has raised the bar pretty high. I have always been a fan of GM. Although some products are good I still remain a car guy and brands really don't affect my decissions other than my own personal choices.

Welcome and thanks for your comment. You won't find posts here dedicated to bashing other trucks. The way I see it the more someone bashes something else that just means they are unhappy with what they have and wish they had that product.
Re: double cabs--looking good! (from a domestic owner)
I've been a motor-head since I was about 10 (46 years), and have owned 31 vehicles during that time....crossing all brand lines and vehicle types. I don't vote along party lines and I don't purchase items just because they have a certain brand name on them. This time around I choose the Tundra because it seemed to have the best combination of style, performance, and hopefully Toyota reliability. So far, other than a few strange design issues, I've been very pleased. This truck is truely a pleasure to spend time with.
Re: double cabs--looking good! (from a domestic owner)
I don't care too much what the Chinese made peel and stick badge says on a vehicle. To be sure I'd rather it be built in the USA and I'd rather an American company build it......maybe next time, I'm watchin'.
Re: double cabs--looking good! (from a domestic owner)
To clarify, my 2008 white DC was built in my hometown of San Antonio, Texas. Which is definitely in the USA. 80% parts from the US. Pretty American if you ask me...

I love the Tundra's too and have been wanting to purchase another one since I sold my 2000 Toyota Tundra LTD TRD for a 3/4 ton. I just wish Toyota would get their head out of their @ss and build a damn 3/4 ton Diesel so I can own a Toyota again.
My favorite Tundra is that blue color they have with TRD and in Crew Cab. Just wish they made a Crew Cab with a 8ft bed.
Re: double cabs--looking good! (from a domestic owner)
I never owned a Toyota before this one. I'm using it as a 3/4 ton. Towing, hauling, AND hauling a$$. If it lasts, I'll keep it a long time. This thing drives like a dream. I was worried when I sold my V-10 Dodge I'd be taking a step back in the displacement department and the performance department. So far the only change (besides better drive) is WAY less fuel burned!!!
But I STILL want a supercharger on this!

Love my Tundra and it takes care of my hunting and fishing needs even better then expected. I bought it because of how much I loved my Solara. I have spent $100.00 in parts up and above my regular maintenance in the past 7 years and I hope my Tundra will treat me the same way.
Re: double cabs--looking good! (from a domestic owner)
I have a RC with a 8' bed and treat it like a 3/4 ton pulls my boat and takes the abuse. So far I'm very happy with it.
After 8 Ford trucks, I'm glad to be in the Toyota family.

Re: double cabs--looking good! (from a domestic owner)
I am also a Former Ford owner. I have nothing bad to say about my 06 F-150. It was a good vehicle. My 08 Double Cab is a great truck as well. I will say my Ford had the 5.4L and my Double Cab has the 4.7L and I really do not see any difference in everyday driving or towing. Mileage is the same. Two reasons for going to Toyota.
1. Our 05 Sienna Minivan became very noisy on the highway. Brought it into the dealer and they determined it could be a bad batch of Runflat tires. They replaced all 4 tires and there was no charge. Both the dealer and Toyota stood behind that 3 year old off warranty vehicle.
2. Price. I shopped every make as I really did not have a preference to brand. Toyota was the most aggressively priced. My dealer did not haggle me or waste my time. I ended up paying $4600 under sticker and also qualified for the 1.9 for 60 months.
