Here is an alternate way to mask the turn signal light. I taped off a circle centered directly over the small square in the clear turn signal lens. This provides continuity with the shape of the hi and low beams. Just another way to do it.

The mod should be about the same on every vehicle (I'm sure there are probably a few exceptions). Just take all the plugs, lights, light fittings and all screws and any rubber off of the housing. Bake it at like 245 for about 9 minutes and it should come apart with a little elbow grease. I've done a set for a 2007 F-150, two 2008 Tundras, and two Tacomas. So far they all utilize the same method, it's just the screws and bulb fittings are different on each one.

$35 for the mod. PM for any further questions or details
Haven't attempted a HID retrofit yet, but I am planning on either going the HID route *or* the Xenon conversion route. Haven't decided on which way to go yet, I like the HIDs but it seems like the cost to convert everything is a little too expensive compared to what its worth to me to have that kind of lighting. I can just do the Xenon conversion for $50-something (if I remember correctly) and have a comparable lighting solution to what I'm looking for. We'll see what happens once I get to that mod though..I may end up just saying f#$& it and do the HID...who knows. I need to speak with ThirdHorseman about it a little more perhaps...

Alright guys, robsatx stopped by today and I modded his lights. They look KILLER on his truck.
!!!! His were done with a glossy black, fits very well with his black finish. But because it was glossy paint, it took a little over 5 hours to do since that paint takes longer to dry between coats than matte/flat, and the temp being around 60 didn't help the drying time either.
Great job on both trucks!! Love the vid. I'll be doing mine and my son in laws new Tacoma today over a few brewskis and between wreck at Bristol!!
I'm from SA and will be in town the first week of June. I'd love to see your truck in person......over a brew or two!!!
Thanks! I enjoy doing this mod and I think every single Tundra should have the lights like that.
Hey, I can't ever turn down some beer! Just hit me up with a PM closer to that time and we can iron out details. Hopefully by then I will have a couple more mods done. LEDs are in the mail as we speak, can't wait to see my gauges in white instead of that amber color.

Does anyone have any shots of this mod on a slate? I have seen a couple close ups ones, but I'd like one from farther away to get an idea of how it looks as part of the whole truck.
Seriously, this mod looks great on every color so far that I have seen. Also, haven't seen any pictures of matched housings yet but some trucks could definitely get away with matching (blue streak, white, and the bright red). Would make it look very sporty. Especially with matched grille surround, front bumper, handles and mirror caps....man oh man.

That black truck would look twice as good w/o that front license plate. I'd remove it and take the chance.
Agree, all the nice work and the plate takes away more than anything. I took mine off too and am taking the chance. I have never had an issue running without the plate here, but then again Im a bit older and drive pretty mello overall.

Anybody have pics of a silver sky metallic truck with the black headlight mod? I'm trying to decide on whether or not I should make it happen, and am curious to see what it will look like...
thanks in advance...
