Alright guys, robsatx stopped by today and I modded his lights. They look KILLER on his truck.
!!!! His were done with a glossy black, fits very well with his black finish. But because it was glossy paint, it took a little over 5 hours to do since that paint takes longer to dry between coats than matte/flat, and the temp being around 60 didn't help the drying time either.

Edited:
Im out..... going to look for a darker chrome.... Mother in law picked up wife to go Palm Springs for the night...... Mother in law rives a lexus and was looking at her head/tail light they were chrome but a darker black looking chrome, that would look hot instead of the bright chrome look !
Be sure to check out the thread in my signature for the tutorial and in-depth video to be sure about how to do it. Those are the steps I used not only for my Ford lights, but also rob's and my Tundra. I think Rob is happy, I don't he stopped grinning once they we shut the hood after putting them back in

Did you tint the lenses on his truck as well? It looks like you tinted them on yours, but I could be wrong. Oh and when you're done taking that trip to Florida for alexisd, you can swing up here to Massachusetts and do mine

Nope, the lenses are untouched, except for some Oops! residue remover for the adhesive that got on both of our lenses during this mod, haha.
I wish I could set-up some kind of rediculously fast service and provide a 1-day turnaround time, and a bigger oven, or even a couple of ovens. Then I would just have people send me their lights to get modded, would be back the next day from when they arrive/I started work on them. But I'm afraid I'd be backed up for over month, haha.
This is a really easy and simple mod to do, nobody should be the least bit worried about doing it. And I heard the rumor already from some "paint guy" in another thread about the lenses fogging up. Won't happen on the Tundra lights as they have basically a vent built-in for moisture to escape through the back. If moisture can get out I'm sure any "fumes" from the chemicals in the spraypaint will go through there as well. Nothing will happen to your lights by baking them as long as your oven is truly at 275 degrees (I recommend putting a cooking thermometer inside to make sure before putting your housing in) and you follow my directions and/or video.

dbdolan: I know you live in Tomball, my grandparents use to live there. It's a good 3 hour drive to San Antonio, but if you have a free weekend coming up, why not visit one of the nation's hottest tourist spots and stop by my place for about 5 hours and get your headlights done by a pro?
I think another member that lives in Houston will be coming down in a couple of weeks for his, and that's a good 3-3.5 hour drive as well. I saw a truck identical to mine today, only he didn't have the modded headlights, and the only thing I could say to my friend in the passenger seat was, "wow, that looks like crap with all the chrome in the headlights...", lol. I never paid attention to it before modding mine, but the black really does make it look a *lot* better. And the best part is that it looks good for ANY finish that the Tundras come in. Just gotta choose how shiny or matte/flat you want the paint.
I've been tempted to find someone that wants a color-matched headlight mod. I think on the red and blue finishes it would look cool, obviously black is more of just any glossy black, but I don't think a lot of colors can get away with the color-matched mod. So if anyone wants to get theirs color-match modded and live in the SA area or nearby, hit me up. I'm really curious to see how it looks. Besides, it can always be painted over with black

I got my truck at the same place as robsatx. Looks sweet. Ive been wanting to do this to it but just havent found the time... Mine is black aswell, do you think a dark red would look good or just too odd? ohh and is there a big diff. between the glossy and flat black?

Hey that sounds good, I would not mind coming up for the day. Let me know when the other guy is coming up and maybe I could get mine done the same time.
