Default Paint Chip, Dirt or Rubbing from bed

Here is a picture of the truck I am buying. I just notice a black spot just behind the rear passenger door, located at the bottom of the bed. Its basically just to the right and a bit above the end of the running boards....Its a black splotch that I do not know what it is.....Will ask the dealer but can anyone comment on what they think it is? Almost looks like the bed rubbed the back of the cab...

Have you seen this in person yet? It looks like the plastic corner protector from the factory. Mine has it on both sides and I left them on, as I think most people do.

They all have them. The red just makes it stand out more. It is a protective cap for the bed corner.

Thanks for the comments....I have bought the vehicle but have not yet seen it in person, only pictures. crazy eh.....

as far as the bed bounce, while the area I live in is not really susceptible to it, no long concrete highways....I do have my own solution....and the solution to the thin tailgate.....

I would stain the wood, likely black but here is a picture of the plywood liner.....solves the bed bounce and tailgate issue all at once......

the wood liners are pretty common in the oil field trucks. I would check your local truck accessory stores.....
