The dealer is half correct, or half wrong . The alarm will auto-set after about 20-30 seconds if you hit the key FOB to turn off the alarm and not open the door, then it will reset.

Star Toyota in League City/Houston TX knew exactly what I was talking about and had it done in 30 minutes. Good service department there. The guy I spoke to said to be careful because the alarm with auto-set after the doors close and if your keys are in there, you're locked out. However, it doesn't appear that that is correct. My alarm doesn't set unless I press the lock button on the fob. I have confirmed the alarm is working, just that it doesn't auto-set after a certain amount of time.
Your correct, there is not an auto-set feature on that. You have to arm it by hitting the lock button on your key fob. It should also arm (if I am thinking correctly) by hitting the lock button on your door to lock all the doors and then after you shut the door and wait about 30 seconds it will be armed.

Curious how many folks have 'tested' the GBS once installed and how easy it is to set off?
I got my GBS in (thanks Sparks) and had a buddy of mine at the Lexus dealer hook up the techstream and enable the alarm. Just never got around to testing it out other than the blinking light

It has a dial on it to adjust sensitivity, I tested it on my old Tundra but have not gotten around to putting it in this new one yet. I did a smack the window test and set it just low enough that a Harley wouldn't make it go off.

Was at the dealer last night with the printed out .pdf file. My service advisor had no idea at all that this could be done, so she went and got a tech. I've spoken with him before, he seems to be pretty cool, and while he was hesitant he decided to just try it. He told me that it probably won't work because another module was needed that was not on the truck. He hooked up the computer and it was done in 5 minutes. He couldn't believe it. He even brought over a couple other techs to show them.

lucky you! I had to spend 45 minutes arguing with the asst. service manager and still got nothing done til after I talked to the director, then it was done in 15 minutes.
just got the the GBS from Sparks and installed it less than 15 minutes! thanks!
Followed all the advice and took my 2010 back to the dealer with PDF file in hand. They knew nothing about it and said it would not work. I told them if it didn't work I would pay labor costs. If it did work they cover costs and pay me royalties for everyone they do from now on. Of course I would share with everyone on this thread. LOL Anyway I know have my new alarm activated thanks to you guys. I appreciate it. My service manager feels like an idiot even better!
Just bought a 2010 tundra 5.7 at Mike Calvert Toyota in Houston. After reading this thread and considering it came with the Lojack I ask the salesman shouldn't the alarm be activated sense Lojack is a type of theft device. He said absolutely just take it to service and they will activate it. Well the assistant service manager acts like he has no idea what I am talking about. He calls the shop foreman and HE says my truck has no alarm so no alarm can be activated. He says the first generation alarms could be but not these new ones.
I ask the service manager if I bring him the how to does he think they might do it. He says if I bring him the how to they will try it BUT I will have to pay for labor. This dealer has not changed in 10 years. Well anyway I get home and the printer goes kaput so it will be an interesting day tomorrow at the dealer.
Went back to Mike Calvert Toyota the next day and spoke with a different service manager by the name of Jose Teran. All I can say is a BIG thanks to Jose. He new exactly what I was talking about and now the alarm is on and the seatbelt buzzer is off.
First time I went to my dealer they said that it didnt work.
After I got to know a couple of the guys, they had a tech that was "more knowledgable" do it for me. He was really cool and he said that he had heard of it before. He said that my Tundra didnt even have the program installed but he did all of it with the techstream and now it works.
You gotta wait 30 seconds after the Truck is armed and if you try to open it from the inside, your lights will blink and your horn (and siebel horn) will go off.
