The other day I noticed after pressing unlock w/ key fob, then not opening the door for a minute or two, the doors re-locked and made the audible chirp.
This was after just having the pass seatbelt chime deactivated & 1 touch all door unlock.

PS: we need an abreviation for these features (PCD: passenger chime deactivated, 1T4: one touch, 4 doors unlock)
Thoughts?

I just checked mine for that, and after 3 minutes it was still unlocked. I have deactivated the automatic all-door locking feature as you drive down the road so maybe the two are tied together.

I was wrong I do have the alarm. Like someone mentioned you have to wait 30 sec. for the alarm to activate.

The alarm is standard on Limited models. It is optional (rather not activated) on Tundra and SR5 models. So if you have an SR5 or Tundra grade without the alarm AND you have keyless entry and the engine immobilizer, this "activation" thread would apply to you.

Okay, I don't have it, i was just at the dealers and they looked at me like I was crazy. I told them about the alarm and that I have it because I have the panic horn and flashing lights and I also have the key imobilizer. He said to bring it in and he'll make some calls and check with the scanner, I think I am going to print out the directions that were posted with the GBS manual.

Please keep us posted! I have a 08 Tundra DCab and I called my dealer and they said that I must be mistaken. I do have the keyless entry and the flashing lights/beeping noise/panic alarm and the 4.7 V-8. Then they offered to install me a car alarm for a mere $299.00. Sounds like they want to charge me $299.00 to activate the alarm that I already have in my truck.

Thanks in advance for additional information.

Here is a list of all the changeable options by the dealer. Note the description on page 2 & 3 of the anti-theft system. This might be helpful to take with you too. It indicates the default is "on", but if the alarm is not listed on the window sticker it is set to "off". This is what they need to change.

"(d) THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM

Display Default Contents Setting
WARN BY HORN ON
Function that allows vehicle horns
and theft deterrent horn to be
used as warning device.
ON or OFF"

Thanks for the info. With this print out I am sure to gather more attention at the dealership since I can show them that I have instructions from a tech manual.

My buddy who is a Lexus tech activated mine with the Toyota Techstream scanner in a few minutes. He did not know it could be done until I convinced him to try. We then took a co-workers to his buddy who is a Toyota tech and activated his. His buddy did not know how to do it, but another tech there did. It does not have to have a Glass Break Sensor (GBS) or hood switch present.

If you can make the horn sound and lights flash by pushing the panic button on the remote, the alarm is there.

Some dealers will charge you to activate it, some will not, many will tell you it can't be done. Better yet, buy a tech a six-pack or slip then $20.

Here is the install PDF for the glass break sensor. On pages 10-17 it explains how to activate the alarm with the scanner. Those direction might help you convince the tech/service department that it can be done.

Good luck with the activation for those that don't have it active.

If you want to read more there is a discussion here.

GREAT INFO!
Now to find out if I can get someone in my service department to do it for me

That's the hard part...at least it was for me. I got the run around and I was getting sick of it.

That's the goofiest thing I've ever heard of. You paid for a feature, or in any event it was included with the truck whether you paid extra or not, but now you have to pay extra to have it work? Something doesn't sound right here.
