we have done 3 '08's so far and everything seem to have went as advertised in the PDF, worked fine and had no reprocutions from it. I think you are right to call BS on that one there.

Thanks on confirming what I thought all along. Makes one wonder why some people feel they have to make up some sh*t. Also makes me concerned about the honesty of the people I am dealing with at the dealership. Thanks Again.

Smile Re: Alarm activation confirmed!

Just checked ...

• sat in my truck...

• locked the doors with the keyless...

• the red icon on dash was solid red...

• waited 30 sec...

• the icon then started flashing...

• opened the door and the lights and horn went crazy...

I have the alarm + the GBS...(haven't tested the GBS, but can see the sensor)

Wasn't sure there for a bit...as I bought this truck from the States used....

An '07 DC SR5 ...TRD.

I went in on Tuesday for an oil change to set the alarm. I dropped the pdf instructions on the table,. Service manager asked, "what's this?" I told him it's for the alarm I'd like to set,for I'm about to order the Glass breakage package, He just looked at me for a second and said "Oh". About a hour and thirty minutes later, they were done. I had an oil change, tires rotated, and alarm activated for $80.00. The tech said they were good instructions, except he had to activate the glass breakage alarm as well.(I assume this was not in the pdf instructions) I hope the info helps, I'm probably repeating previous info,Oh well, Have a good one.

My '08 DC TG alarm was activated precisely as per the PDF - I was looking over the tech's shoulder.

Yep. Most dealers will give you the deer in the headlights look when you tell them you need your alarm activated or the seatbelt chime turned off.

Easiest way is to just print out that pdf and highlight what you want. I had to do that because I was almost argued with that it couldn't be done.

Kind of put him in his place when I gave him directions for his own scan tool.

I know I'm an idiot, but does this mean you have to have the GBS for them to be able to turn on the alarm ?????

You do not need the GBS. I know that for a fact.

that sounds about right isn't the Gbs built into the Tundra? I know on Gen one they were standard on all truck with keyless entry..

I took mine to the dealership...got the "Deer in the Headlights" look. After a bit, they decided to give it a try...VIOLA...I have an active alarm. Its not the best, but it will do until I can get a Viper. Oh, and the ignition immobilizer works as well. ( It was hard to test that with the FREAKING horn going off in the garage).

I'll be damned. My alarm isn't on either...and I paid for it. The solid red light doesn't come on after 'arming' the system. It immediately flashes. Guess I'll have the dealer fix the problem the next time I get the oil changed. Sheesh.

I activated the alarm on my SR5 CM and then added the GBS from Sparks. Works like a charm. Set the GBS to 8, up from the 5 recomended as a starting point. Very pleased with the result.

I dont understand why its not activated when you first buy the truck. They take all that time to hook every thing else up inside and detail it ... sounds like a scam to have to pay for a tech to take 5 min to do some configurations.
