Dropped my truck of this morning for the 15K service. I gave them the instructions and also asked for the passenger chime to be turned off and for passive arm to be turned on. They didn't mention anything about a charge and I didn't ask. When I gave him all the stuff and asked to do it.... he just said "OK". So if they try to charge me, I will argue that they should have stated a charge up front. Keeping my fingers crossed that it all goes as planned. Thanks to everyone for the help and information.

Well, my friendly service department *reset* my TG re-disabling my alarm (and re-enabling the *&!@! auto door-lock-unlock #!@). I highly recommend you make a list of the settings that got changed from the defaults, in case said settings are not as permanent as one may wish they were.

The short version of my story is that I got my alarm activated for free today.

The long version is that when I arrived at the dealership I told the Assistant Manager what I was there for. The first words out of his mouth was that only the Limited had the ability to program the electronics with the Techstream and since mine is a SR5 I was out of luck. We had a friendly argument for about 10 minutes, with me becoming more frustrated by the minute. He then told me that the minimum service charge for connecting the Techstream to my truck would be $90.00. I politely told him I would go to another dealership and have the work done there. I was holding the instructions that I downloaded from the Sparks Toyota website, plus other info from this and the Toyota Guide web site. He looked at the Sparks instructions and then called a Tech over to discuss it with him. They then agreed to hook up the Techstream to my truck and give it a try. Following the Sparks instructions had my alarm turned on in less than 2 minutes, plus I also had them turn off the Passenger seat belt chime, and made all doors unlock with one push on my remote. When they were done I asked them what the cost was...the Assistant Manager just smiled and told me it was FREE! I smiled all the way home. Thanks to all of you who post good, useable information on this website!

Well my dealer activated everything, no problem. They then proceeded to charge me $34.95. I told them that I was under the impression that it would be free, especially since he didn't tell me a charge previous to the service. He argued for a second, about the technicians time not being free, but then let me slide since he never discussed a charge. I then told him that had he told me up front, about a charge, that I would have probably still done it.... What a relief to not have that passenger chime anymore.

Had my first experience with the alarm at the gas station.... I forgot all about it and it went off when I got in the truck... before I had time to start it.

I had mine done this weekend and they told me that there was no way to make the remote unlock all with one click that it would only work that way with the key!! Did i get misinformed or not get my $30 worth?

We programed mine to unlock all doors with one push of the remote. My Lexus tech buddy and I went through all the options on the Techstream and changed everything I wanted.

Your info indicates you have an 05. I don't know if this info applies to models prior to 07.

I programmed my 07DC Limited to unlock with one button push through the trip meter button and dash display if I remember correctly.

I will attempt to get the dealership to turn my alarm on, thanks for the good info all!!
