Re: Is anyone running 37's on a 4wd lifted Tundra?
The 4x4 still isnt the end all be all either. There are plenty of locales that require 4x2 otherwise you will break half shafts and cvs. When crawling around on slick rock you can damage a lot of stuff in 4x4 and having a locked up 4x2 that is properly geared has benefit. This is one reason you see 4x4s with manual locking hubs. Even the 4x4 crawlers know there are places for 4x2.
Yeah, having the function of 4x4 when needed is nice, but if it's a pavement queen and will always be a pavement queen then why spend the $2500 on 4x4, save it for the lift and drop money on the tires.
Is that my style? No, but I'm not going to say it doesn't look cool.

I am also running the same lift on 37's no rub. What gear ratio do you plan on running? Are the available yet? I would like to also try to bring the MPG's into a better range. Not that I expected this thing to be a PRIUS or anything but a few extra MPG's would be nice

Re: Is anyone running 37's on a 4wd lifted Tundra?
The wheels are Kumho Road venture MT's 37x13.5Rx20. The lift is a 6" ProComp Stage II. The lift was installed before I bought the truck so I don't believe any extra blocks were needed to clear the 37's. You can see in the pic that the front is slightly higher then the back. I believe this was done so the 37 won't rub. I need a set of steps. Any recommendations?
Re: Is anyone running 37's on a 4wd lifted Tundra?
A properly setup 4x2 will go places a of lot pretenders (pavement princesses) with formerly fat wallets can't take their 4x4's. Driver skill and a properly setup ride are more important then whether you have a 4x2 or 4x4 IMHO.
Most anyone that works off asphalt has seen a lot of almost new 4x4's stuck in places that are easily navigated with a little skill and a descent 2WD pickup.

I grew up on farm and went by a lot of idiots in 4x4's with various off road capable tires (no racing slicks) in a regular 2WD pickup with all terrain tires. The worst were people in SUV's that thought they were invincible. Properly weighted and good driving technique got me down roads that stopped a lot of people.
Can you find places where I couldn't get through but, a 4x4 could? Sure. But, in normal everyday use on the farm I never once drove a 4x4 pickup and managed just fine on muddy rural roads, snow drifts, ice, etc.

I am running 37's on a 4X4 also. Took some cutting but no rubbing.
I can't say I totally agree about the 4X4 versus 4X2 lifted deal because I have done both but I can say I am a hell of alot more confortable heading off-road in this truck than my 4X2 F-150......Which was stuck more than once in the sand. In the same I didnt lift my 4X2 because I wanted to take it off-road it was for looks...Come to think of it thats why I lifted my 4X4 Crewmax!! HAHA

Sand is a whole different game from where I grew up. If sand was something I encountered often, specialized tires on a 4x4 would become more important to me.
