This is a discussion thread titled "MP3 won't play", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I've tried to create several MP3 CD's with iTunes, but can't get them to play in the CD player. They'll play with other programs (Windows Media Player, etc.) The CD player says it will play MP3's so what am I doing wrong?
Dont know....
Mine have all worked.
Make sure your iTunes prefs are set to burn MP3, and not Data.
Make playlist, add songs.
Hit "Burn".
Thats it.
Second that, make sure yor software copies and burns your CD's and other media in some MP3 format! You might need and update to burn folders and be able to use the folder button on the radio. Otherwise, your Bass/Trebble etc. button will go from song to song!
What they said. I think iTunes uses Apple's .aac files. I don't think the stereo can play those. It might be able to play the Windows cousin (.wma) but, .mp3 is universally accepted in both camps.
The stock stereos can play MP3 and WMA formats. I'm not familiar with iTunes, but if the filename doesn't end with .MP3 or .WMA, it won't play in your stereo.
With that said, you may be able to convert the iTunes format to MP3 or WMA, but I've never done it before. Since I'm not familiar with iTunes, hard for me to say. I have converted many other types of formats to and from MP3 and WMA. iTunes format may be convertible.
With the creation of your CD, there is a trick to it. I believe there is a thread here on TS that talks about how to create it. If you can't find it, let me know. I'll make a CD and document the steps. It'll be centered on Vista, though. I don't have an XP system up and running anymore.

Doublecheck your manual, it will tell you what bitrates and so forth are playable. Then make sure that is what you are using. On mediaplayer go to file then properties to find out.
If you have verified they are actually MP3s, you also want to make sure your program is finalizing the disc after burning. Most burning software will allow you to leave the disc open to add more songs to it, or close/finalize it so it will play in other cd players.
I have had the same problem except for that I have played burned cds in my truck, then sometimes i'll put the same cd back in and it wont read it... If I restart the truck with it on radio mode and then put the cd back in sometimes it will take it... I think its just tempermental...
your songs are probably in another format. You can select the songs in itunes... and one of the menus up top has the option "convert to mp3" - then it should work
if in fact your music is in mp3 format, check to make sure your audio quality is set at 192Kps or 256Kps but no more than that, else some player cannot read it. this happened to my wife's sequioa
