Default Deaver Spring Question

I just fully finished the lift on my 2007 DC. Back in August I had DR Coilovers put on the front, and set at 3". I also added 33" Toyo M/Ts and some rims. I just had the 11 Leaf Deaver Spring installed as well as Fox shocks on the rear. The Deaver Spring pack was supposed to add 2" of lift to the rear. I also added the TC UCAs on the front, as well as bringing the DR coilovers to the full 3.5".

The trouble is now my truck rides like a bulldog (high in the front), and I think it looks like ****. I was under the impression that it should have a slight rake to the front with this set up. I know I can lower the front back to where it was, but it was sitting about level before (see the pictures in my gallery).

What went wrong here? I am thinking the shocks, but I am not sure. I plan to go back to the shop tomorrow morning (I couldn't tell in the parking lot originally, as their parking lot has a huge rake to it).

Here are some random measurements:

Ground to Bottom of Rear Bumper: 19" (Measured to bottom of chrome bumper, just to the right of the hitch)

Front Ground to Body: 40 3/4" (measured from center of wheel well)
Rear Ground to Body: 39 3/4" (measured from center of wheel well)

Front Spacing Tire to Body: 9 1/8" (measured from center of wheel well)
Rear Spacing Tire to Body: 7 3/4" (measured from center of wheel well)

To Do: debadge, leather, arb bumper, real skid plates, nerf bars, sound system.

It is possible that when you raised the front, the weight distribution changed where the rear has more weight now and that caused the Deavers to compress a bit thus lowering the rear.

Not likely. Deavers will settle over time and you will lose a little bit of height. Try cranking down the fronts a bit to level things out

Can anyone measure their stock 07 4x4 rear bumper from the ground to the bottom of the chrome bumper, near the hitch? I should have done measurements myself first.... Argh.

Go the dealership with a tape measure and measure their trucks there. I'll be changing my leaf springs too, in a couple of months with Alcan. Then, raise the front 3" to reduce the rake a bit. How do the Deaver springs ride?

I can tell you the stock truck is 36 in front ground to body. Mine is 41 with a 4 inch lift and oversize tires. My rear is 42 with 2.25 inch blocks.

The dimensions you gave in the front sound just right for your setup, so imo the problem lies with the changes you made in the rear. You only need another inch or two in back to fix your problem, so I would recommend concentrating on the back and leaving the front as is.

Let us know how it works out. Good luck.

Front Susp: Stock coilovers, 4" lift (http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forum...6-4-inch-lift/), swapped extra spacers for Bilstein 5100s on lowest setting, wheel well height still 41.5." Rear Susp: ProComp ES3000 #326510 (2.25" taller than stock), 1.25" blocks plus PRG mini-pack (http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forum...and-new-truck/) gives 2.25" total lift, parking brake cable bracket spacers, wheel well height 43." Front diff and rear ds drop; trailer hitch electrical harness tucked up above bumper. After 20K miles swapped 305/65/18 BFG AT for 285/75/18 Toyo AT, still on stock 18x8x60 offset TRD wheels, about 1/8" clearance to sway bar. Like the extra height but miss the width. Next time either 305/70/, 295/70, or 35x12.50/18. Added 5th 285/75/18 Toyo AT as spare. Bed Bounce: Stiffer E-tires are worse than stock P-metric; biggest improvement from PRG mini-pack, slight improvement from shocks. Still a stiff ride but tolerable now. Best things about this truck: 5.7 and transmission, interior size and comfort, very quiet at high speed. Worst things about this truck: bed bounce, no VSC in 4wd, mileage sucks above 70.

I got an explanation from the place that installed my lift, SDHQ. Apparently my salesperson was misinformed about the height of the lift. The Deaver site, as well as Wheelers, both say that the Deavers provide 2 inches of lift. Also, on the Deaver site you can read that the springs require a Total Chaos shackle.

The guy who explained it at SDHQ said that the actual leaf pack provides 2 inches of lift, but the shackle brings it down to 1 inch (or less). The Total Chaos shackle is apparently the only shackle for the leaf pack.

It sounds like the Deaver leaf pack (k37) should not be advertised as providing 2 inches of lift, because I'm seeing less than 1.

I think I may have them take off the Deavers and put on some OMEs. I will get a call from them on Monday or Tuesday after they have called Deaver.

I believe the spring provides 1-1.5" depending on cab configuration and the shackle provides 3/4" of lift.

Well, my total lift with the TC shackle and the Deaver spring pack is only 3/4 of an inch.

The back end is super stiff, but it is a nice ride in the cab. I've been too busy to get it off road, but I will report on that when that happens.

I'm not going to sell the Deavers; SDHQ will have to eat the used parts if they can't lift as promised.

Sandcruiser from Dubai said the same thing about his Deaver springs. They're still stiff. Thanks.

I have a Deaver leaf pack with Foxes on my truck where the suspension was done by KORE. KORE uses a longer shackle to get the lift right. KORE Suspension - Dodge Lift Kits - Dodge RAM Suspension - Dodge Lift Kit - Dodge Suspension
