Well guys. I DID have the alarm and it was disabled from the factory. They turned it on for free( AFTER I PRINTED THE DIRECTIONS FOR THEM.) and they also disabled my passenger seat seatbelt chime for 40 bucks.

So, If you do have the 5.7 v8 and a key immobilizer, then you do have an alarm.

Just so you know. They had NO idea that it needed to be turned on. I had to print out directions and give them to them for both of these items. DO not let yourself be told that no, we can't do that.

I went in today and activated my alarm on my Tundra. I have worked for Toyota for 15 years and did not know that this was an option. It is only an entry alarm but that will work for me.

As far as other dealership techs knowing what you are talking about I would have to assume most of them will not know anything about this option. With that in mind if they tell you it is not possible calmly tell them you have talked to Toyota and it is an option in the customized list. Yes you will have to pay to have it turned on in most cases. Unless the new car dept will pay the service dept for you. Shouldn't cost much approximately half an hour of labor or 40-50$. Not bad that is an inexpensive alarm.

All v-8's came with the immobilizer. You should have a key shape that blinks in the center of the dash where the clock is located.

Yours is a key symbol? Mine's a blinking tiny red side pic of a car. But mine came with the immoblizer AND working alarm, maybe that's the difference.

Really stupid question here - how do you know if your alarm is working or not? Look the doors, leave a window open, reach in and open the door from the inside?

I just got inside, locked the door with the remote and opened the door, talk about crazy...lights were flashing all over the place, the horn was going nuts, $hit was beeping left and right.

You think they would know... Because when you are buying the truck and they ask do you want the alarm or not.... If you say yes.... What do they do then?

jdk,
your right. It is a little symbol that looks like an suv rather than a key. My wife's car has the key symbol.

It just really pisses me off. Toyota should have this activated from the factory if its available...I wouldn't mind paying for it if something needed to be added, but they've done "nothing extra" to warrant paying for it.
