TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2007 and later Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "P0171 & P0174 CEL Lean Bank Codes", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Argh. I can't get this stupid CEL taken care of. Those are the codes it's throwing. Things I've done.
1. Disconnected Positive Cable (Done this twice for a min of an hour)
2. Disconnected Negative Cable Overnight
3. Cleaned off MAF sensor twice with MAF sensor cleaner
4. Checked all vacuum hoses, clamps, etc.
I am at a loss...I think I'm just going to have to take the Airaid off. Any other inputs? Anyone who has the Airaid, can you take pics of the vacuum lines, etc to make sure I've got it all correct..
Thanks
Thanks, appreciate it...It's getting very very frustrating, and even more so to know that you have the EXACT mods as me and no trouble codes. Three reasons it's so bothersome..
1. VSC light flashing constantly...along with Traction control light and CEL light.
2. I have no Traction control and right now in Winter...NOT GOOD!
3. Getting crappy gas mileage. 10mpg
I did try two different things tonight.
1. I noticed that the intake tube was tilted back at somewhat of an angle; therefore, tilting the MAF up, not making it level. Not sure if this does something but now, it's sitting level by rotating the intake tube forward.
2. Removed the Airaid Throttle Body spacer.
Along with resetting the CEL by disconnecting battery, etc...
So, we'll see tommorrow.
Removing the Battery cable will not clear the CEL code from the ECM you need a Scan tool to clear that code from the computer. You can get them online for a reasonable price or you can get them on loan from auto-zone or other such places.
I think he posted elsewhere that he did take it in and they are blaming the Airaid intake. which unless something is plugged in wrong or his is defective is silly, because there are a bunch of people running around with Airaid intakes (and other brands) with no issues.

Cycleman, I forget, what else have you done to your truck? Could the combination of the Airraid and say the exhaust or headers be a problem (if I remember, you have the exhaust, but not the DT headers?)

Warranty claims and mods are not usually a good combination. That sad part is, I bet the problem never had anything to do with his bolt ons. He may have to pull the stuff completely off and try another dealer.

Kokomo Toyota is a pretty good dealer. They've never given me **** when I lived there. Also, I think the next nearest dealer is in northern Indy which is quite a drive from where he lives.

He has the same set up as I do, which is part of his frustration since I have no cel.
Airaid, DT headers and Zoomers exhaust. I think he has a throttle body spacer.

Nitrous would not help me tow my 8500 race trailer...not for long anyway. This is a work horse for me to pull my trailer and I'll take all the torque I can get. Now a supercharger is another story.
