I have a high pitched noise as well but mine comes and goes by the angle of the gas pedal so I'm guessing it's electrical noise. If I have the pedal at the sweet spot (which just happens to be 95% of driving conditions) i get a high pitched whistle. Hard to explain but very annoying and definetly not coming from the mirrors as it happens at 10mph the same as at 80mph.
I started a thread on this a while back and called high pitched whine. To me its an electronic like noise approaching dog whistle frequency. Seems to be associated with the transmission and is linked to shift points. Like everything else on this truck I think its normal. I've had it since new and now have 37,000 miles with no adverse effects.
i had a tornado in my intake tube and thought that was making the whistling noise, removed it and still had the whistle. i only hear it when i stomp on the gas pedal at higher rpms don't think it's anything major but it gets irratating sometimes
I have the same noise. I removed the carbon filter-never noticed the noise, put a K&N filter in factory intake-noticed the noise immediately. Took out K&N and put factory filter back in-noise not quite as bad. Weird and very annoying when the radio isn't on.
I have an 08 crewmax with 45,000 miles on it. This is the only the only problem I have had other than the traction control clacking noise that seems to get worse.
I have the same problem and I feel like it is coming from the computer bolted through the firewall. I have not made much attempt to trace the problem as it is hard to find someone else that can hear it. It is very annoying and can be heard over radio and exhaust. I have found out I only hear it in a Crewmax and it is not a particular throttle angle but a load range when cruising at any speed. ( ie: cruise set on flat road, noise goes in and out)

I have that same whistle... Not sure about this yet, but I am wondering if the PCV valve is doing it. I know LS1 Corvettes have a small orfice PCV design that will whistle, not sure if that is the Tundra cause... I might see if I can take the PCV out to check it. Mine is much louder it seems when I first start the truck.
I know mine is not, does it with the radio off even, also did it before and after my head unit change out..
Mine does it with the radio "off" as well...head unit is put in some kind of "sleep" mode with amp still getting power...I could swear noise is coming from the speakers...whine that changes pitch with acceleration...B.
So you guys don't think whistle noise is coming from speakers and is electrical noise (whine)? Brad
No. Mine seems to be associated with shift points. I don't hear it all the time, just every once in a while. Transmission shifts perfect. I figure it's a pump in the transmission.

If the noise is varying with throttle position, it's likely carbon buildup in the throttle body. I have the whistle too and am going to be removing my throttlebody and cleaning it with carburetor cleaner on a rag.
I had to do this on occasion on my last truck and the noise would go away for a while.

Doubtful that this is the problem in my case anyhow for two reasons. First it has done this since brand new, hardly enough time for carbon buildup unless something is seriously wrong. Two I find, like others, it is related to shift points, not throttle position.

Good to know. If I have some time I'll pull my throttle body off and clean it out to see if my whistle goes away.

Negative on the carbon. Looks brand new actually.

Ok. I found it and fixed the annoying wind noise. Finally. So here it is. On the door for the fresh and recirc is the source of the leak. On the left side of the door I put some adhesive foam under the hinge on the inside of the case. I am really sorry for no pics. But I had to put it together while my wife was driving
WOW! didn't know this was an ongoing problem. I have the same noise. i have already had the dealer change both body and door gaskets. if i take it in again i can declare it a lemon and maybe just get a Tacoma instead. i will check what t-rey said maybe i can just keep it. Dont get me wrong, the truck is a f*#king brut and i love it. But im not paying over $700 a month for a "new" toyota truck. If i wanted problems i would have keep my Chevy Tahoe or bought a Ford.
