Passenger side tie rod cotter pin has sheared off twice
OUr company owns a 2000 Toyota Tundra. In the past two months, the cotter pin has sheared off the passenger side, causing the bolt to fall off and the wheel to collapse. The truck was involved in a fairly minor accident prior to these incidents. The body shop that repaired the vehicle did no work on the tie rods or ball joints. After the first incident, which fortunately occurred at an extremely slow speed, they repaired the resulting damage. Now it happened again, three weeks after the last repair. The body shop has no idea what is causing the cotter pin to shear. We have had front end problems with this vehicle off and on for years, but this is very dangerous and my guy who drives the truck is losing his enthusiasm for the vehicle. Any ideas?
