TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2007 and later Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "updates for 2009?", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I was hoping they would use some different type of material (plastic) inside the vehicle. But more importantly, I wish they would do away with the current instrument cluster (now, I don't want to offend anyone!!!). I just wish they would go back to the general instrument cluster where you could see everything at once. And it certainly wouldn't hurt if they made the Tundra a little more fuel efficient.
I would like to see the bulges removed in the tail lights, and also get rid of that portion of red plastic that juts forward into the box sheet metal at the top side of the lens. LEDs would be nice too.
That ALONE is reason enough not to buy an '07+ Tundra.

Totally agree on the instrument cluster. The current system is hard to read because you are looking down long pipes.
Regarding fuel economy, word is the base 4.7 will be replaced with a 4.6 which offers both increased power and fuel efficiency.
Air conditioning in the seats like Ford expeditions might be nice..... rear vents or A/C for the CM would be nice too..... How about LED cargo lighting in the bed.... front hitch mount (for a winch).... color match the gray plastic piece on the front lower bumper.... storage in the rear fender walls.... power outlet in the bed..... lots more creature comforts on my list...

I've heard of rumors of a more fuel efficient, yet more powerful 4.6L engine for the 2010 model. This makes sense as the new Lexus GX470 will have this new 4.6L V8. We'll have to wait to find out.
I have owned a 2005 (leased for 3 years) and now I'm looking for another truck. I don't like the CM because of the long cad / short box combo. I'm not a fan of the DC because I think the rear of the cab looks odd and they don't have the roll down rear window.
I do photoshop so I thought I'd just make my own perfect tundra.
I shortend the cab of the CM just a bit then added the 6.5ft bed off of a DC. I know it's not real, but I dream of this truck.
I'd trade my DC in for this guy ina heartbeat....

Only way Toyota will get me out of my truck is if they introduce a diesel. Otherwise...no complaints accept I will always dream of owning a diesel.
I just don't want to spend beyond my means to get one and maintain one.
