Anyone heard if there are any updates / fixes / refreshes coming for the 2009 model? Engine updates, tailagate or bed bounce/vibration fix, etc.
maybe they'll bump the output of the 5.7L to 400bhp?
I'm thinking of waiting for the TRD lowering kit to be released first before buying.. but if I hear of updates coming down the line, I might just wait a bit more until the fall-winter this year for the 09 models
Toyota doesn't usually do updates until the fourth model year. Look at the last gen Tundra they did the first update in 2003 model year, but with the market the way it is and Ford and Dodge both having new trucks Toyota just might do something.
I heard a rumor that there is a 6 or 6 and a half foot bed coming for the crew max.
That wouldn't surprise me. I think they did something similar for the DC Tacomas in 2007 (3rd model year for next gen). 3rd model year for Tundra would be coming up.
I heard a rumor that there is a 6 or 6 and a half foot bed coming for the crew max.
This had been rumored since Toyota confirmed that they were only offering the CrewMax with the very short bed. Some thought it was even coming as an option for the 2008 MY. But, obviously that didn't happen...Perhaps for 09...

Hmmmm....I have a feeling they will hold off on the 6'6 bed until all the new engines are rolled out in 2010. Who would'nt want a Hino powered CrewMax with a 6'6 bed?
Recently you contacted Toyota. Below is a summary of your contact message and our response.
Thank you for allowing us to be of service to you.
SubjectToyota Tundra Options Discussion Thread Response (Jay Spencer)01/18/2008 12:47 PMMr. Doyle,
Thank you for contacting Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc.
We thank you for your interest in the Toyota Tundra and apologize that the engine and bed options currently available do not meet your needs. Toyota is very aware of the interest in a diesel engine option for the Tundra and this past week at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Katsuaki Watanabe, president of Toyota Motor Corporation confirmed that a new clean diesel V8 engine will be offered in both the Tundra and Sequoia in the near future. While no mention was made of an additional bed option for the Crew Max, we are aware of consumer interest in this type of vehicle and it is currently being reviewed. We thank you for your enthusiasm about our products and hope that you will continue to consider Toyota for your driving needs.
I don't understand why they don't just go ahead and do the 6.5' bed on the CrewMax. They already have the frame (DC long bed) and the bed (DC short bed). Seems like all they have to do is mate them together. If that option was available I'd be a Tundra CrewMax owner tomorrow.
Good luck putting that in a typical garage. Im betting it would not fit in lots of peoples garages.
I have a DC with the 6.6 and I already stick out of most parking spaces and BARELY fit in my Garage. A CM with 6.6 would be a nightmare for me. But that's just MY needs. I'm sure others would find it a dream come true.

I agree a 100%. I also think the 6.5' bed on the crewmax would be fugly as he!!. I like the short bed on the crewmax now. To me its what makes the truck look so good. especially lifted.
It might make the truck look good to some but beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
If Toyota would put a 6.5' bed on the Crewmax it could be used like a truck to load an ATV in the back and to be able to close the tailgate or actually carry something in the bed.
Now it's an SUV with a small funny looking box on the back.
While they're at it they should build a new tailgate for people like me who want to use the truck like a truck.

Yeah my garage is pretty average I would think as far as depth goes. My DC 6.5' bed has about a total of 18" clearence left before it would not fit.

I just wish for 2009 toyota would up their quality. I would buy a tundra crewmax today if I felt it was a good truck. They have just cut to many corners like the paint. I was all set for the tundra but after looking around I have to say I am thinking of waiting on the 2009 F-150. It is not the best looking truck but I bet it would be solid. If I had my way I would build a tundra as solid as the f-150. Come on toyo give us a warm fuzzy about a better quality truck. PLEASE I want one.
