TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2007 and later Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Rain X wiper blades", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I've noticed a few posts about wiper blades for vehicles other than Tundra's.
As politely as possible... this tread is in the Tundra section of the forum, and is distinguished from 1st gen Tundra's, meaning it applies to '07 and newer only.
The reason I'm making this distinction is because it appears that '07 and newer Tundra owners are the only one's with the issue of having a unique wiper blade design that makes replacement comparable to a visit with the dentist.
I'd be curious to know the reason for this "unique" wiper blade. Is it purely inspired by the profit motive or is there benefit associated with the additional cost?

I received a new set of the Rain-X wiper blades directly from Rain-X
this past week and the first time I turned on the wipers I saw a large
section of the windshield on both sides was being missed. Looking at
the wiper blades while still, you can see that they don't even touch
the windshield flat across. By the way they sent me 1-24" and 1-22"
also. Had to put the old ones back on.
The rain-x blades are shipped with a protective cover on the blade itself! Did you remove the cover? I have had the rain-x blades on since March and they are still working great!
Dealer parts guy says current Tundra blade can not use refilled and Toyota at this point has no intention of designing and selling a refillable blade for the Tundra.
Ok, here it is. I know that for late model '07 and all '08 Tundras. They have custom arm/blade pairs. There is a specific attachment that will not marry up to the majority of after market blades, that have the 'shepherds hook' head. These blades are made by Valeo and have a very high quality rating, but yes replacement blades cost around $40 dollars a piece from the dealer, and are rare in after market retail stores. I have heard of a different company that has come out with a blade that looks similar with the same connection and costs around 25% less, can anyone verify this?
Thanks, Mike
