I'm looking to get the TRD Dual exhaust for my 5.7L DC.
I was quoted $1,300.00 for parts and labor for my dealer to install it.
Is this a reasonable price?
I've looked at the installation manual from sparks, and it doesn't look TOO involved. I'm thinking I may be able to tackle this myself...
Any comments or advice from you guys who have done this would be much appreciated.

You could tackle it yourself if you know how to use a socket set. No Lie, its all bolt on.
My opinion though is to get a Flowmaster or Magnaflow custom setup at a local shop. It will all be welded, and you will save about 1000. My set up (flowmaster 70 dual in and out with 3.5 inch x22inch tips) was $400. I know some others have gotten similar for high 200s, low 300s. Depends on your area. Same end result, a kick *** sounding truck, and your wallet is fatter.

Edit: saw that dyno, it is only a range of 770rpm. WTF? That is ridiculous. When is the last time you really got it over 4.5k? Unless you mash the gas its not going to do that. Down low is what matters.

Also a comment on the custom set-up...I would have thought a custom set-up from a local shop would be MORE expensive than a BOLT-ON set-up. What's the logic behind this?

The reason is that a custom setup would not be stainless steel, would not be madrel bent, and would not be easily reversible (back to stock).
I am actually selling a Flowmaster 50 series muffler that I bought, still brand new, uninstalled (see classifieds section). I decided to bite the bullet and go with a cat-back system rather than the custom set up simply because it is easily reversible.

Here's the deal. Your stock catback exhaust is all mandrel bent and stainless. This makes it somewhat illogical to spend so much on a system that offers only one real improvement- the muffler. From the cats back, the only real restrictive part is the muffler. So get a local shop to weld a muffler in place of your stock can and bingo, poor mans catback.
I couldn't be happier. I debated about buying the full system but in the end, I decided to save some cash. My Borla ProXS was 180 out the door and now my truck sounds like it should.
Also, please don't anybody get all butt-hurt because you think i'm dogging all the catback systems out there. If money weren't an issue for me, I surely would have purchased one of the high dollar systems out there. They are by far the way to go for a clean custom look and sound.
You should be able to find mounds of info in those 2 threads.
Ask me if I'd do it again, yes, in an instant, but ultimately it's your choice if you want to spend the money.

I did my Borla dual exhaust myself. It takes a little longer if you don't have an impact wrench. Breaking loose the large bolts takes some muscle and patience. Plus take a little extra time to make sure everything lines up nice. You will be much happier doing it yourself for the "job well done" satisfaction and having the extra cash left for other new goodies.
Ahhhh... I understand now. To each his own, I guess.
I'm still sold on the TRD Dual exhaust. Pricey, yes. But easily unbolted if necessary.

Go to TRDSparks buy it and install it yourself. You'll save around $400 They do have step by step PDF. Or if you are not completely suree just find some one to bolt in on for $100. Dealership prices areridiculouss.

definately get it from sparks and do it yourself. They have very easy to use flange clamps now and everything fits perfectly. Should take you about 1-1.5hrs from the first beer....removal...beer.....muffler section install......beer......tips section install.....beer.....cleanup.....beer......celebri tory ride in the passenger seat to avoid a DUI.....beer.....FOOTBALL....oh wait, no football :-(.....drown your sorrows in....BEER!
It really is easy as stated above if you know your way around a socket wrench. Get some break-free to spray on the bolts if they are a little tough.
Thank you VATundra1, I have been looking for that information. The truck I purchased had the factory dual exhaust and until now I could not find out any technical data. In hindsite I would have saved the $1,000 that the option lists for and gone without it. The sound is nice but it doesn't do anything for me.
