TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2007 and later Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Why Austin, Tx Is the Worst Place Ever.", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Basically I was in Austin for a friend's band that was playing a show. I parked under the bridge in a pay-to-park lot. I came out to get something from my truck and while I was leaning inside this huge flatbed tow truck came around. I guess he wasn't going to make the turn so he started backing up, when he did, he hit the **** out of my truck. Then he pulled forward and did even MORE damage. Which is why my bumper is dented towards the back of the vehicle, while the bracket that holds the tail light is dented towards the front of the vehicle. I was so pissed off I didn't say 2 whole words the rest of the night. My friends that rode up to Austin with me were scared because the ride home was super quiet. I've had to drive around like that for over a week now. I've passed so many cops I'm surprised I don't have like 6 tickets already for not having a tail light.
Oh well. Waiting for the guy's insurance to cut the check for the body shop. They've been "investigating" for over a week. But finally admitted liability yesterday. Bastards.

How does that story make Austin the worst city ever?? Someguy in a flatbed could back into your or my truck in any city and I wouldn't immediately blame the entire city for it...I mean that sucks and all but it sounds like your going to have it paid for...
I personally love Austin, TX - Fun town...

sorry to hear about your truck. i'd be super pissed.
your story, however, has nothing to do with austin. why don't you bash the towing company or the lot owner or any thing/entity that might have had something to do with you situation?

Of course it doesn't make Austin bad. . . but when something like that happens, it affects your whole perception of the place.
Sorry for your trouble dude.

And then there is the obvious. Just think how much more pissed you would have been if you had not witnessed it and just came out to find it. Chances are the sucker would not have fessed up if you had not caught him in the act.
Austin Rocks! I spent last weekend there and had a blast. Don't let a little truck damage ruin your day. At least you got to see it happen and someone was there to be liable for the damage. Most aren't that lucky.

damn that sucks. At least it was someone that had insurance. Some lady backed up into my Acura a few years back and took out my door and quarter panel. Lady had no insurance and was messed up on pills.

I live in Austin (The Worst Place Ever) and try like hell to avoid parking in those downtown lots. It's easy for a truck to get wedged in those tight lots because people don't leave enough room. I have been known to walk an extra 5 or 6 blocks after finding a decent-sized parking place. Sorry to see that crap happened to you. I'll have to admit that San Antonio has better parking lots SBC Center where the Spurs play is nice and big. It's not politically correct in Austin to drive a full size truck, I guess.
