TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2007 and later Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Started New Rear Bumper", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I started building a new rear bumper for my 2007 tundra. It is not complete yet, the top still needs to be plated and it is getting 4" round flush mount LED. One clear and one amber on each side. Constructed out of 1" x 1" .120 wall tubing and 1/8" cold rolled plate and its all bolt on.
Up next a front bumper.
Let me know what you think.
A bumper like that, where are the lockable compartments to store stuff in? A little stainless piano hinge and some covered locks, and your tie downs, hitch, spare gloves all have a place to live.
If you did it for strength because of your line of work then it's good, but if you did it for looks then you better keep working. Most people wouldn't even attempt it so I'll give you a for that.
Looks like you may have a good shop to work in.

Almost looks like one of those rear runners you see on Baja trucks without the metal plating on the outside. Looks like you know what you're doing with metal. Wish I had skills like that.
