Default Anti-theft for aftermarket auxiliary lights?

As some may already know I recently bought a new N-fab light bar for my DC and also have on order a few hundred dollars worth of lights that will be going on the light bar. In looking at the light bar it is pretty obvious that any thief could just walk right up to my truck during the night and clip the wires, unscrew the bolts below the light bar and walk away with my KC Rally 800's. I have seen anti-theft nuts from PIAA and was wondering if those might work for other brands of auxiliary lights and if anybody knows of some other type of protection for the lights it would be much appreciated...Thanks.

Not completely familiar with the model of lights you have but a guy here (not a Tundra owner but has an off-road Jeep) has tack-welded a bead on the thread of his bolts after installing them to prevent such theft.

Hope that helps.

Didn't even think of that. Thats a really good idea. Not sure if I would want them on there that permanently though...Maybe if I get really confident and like how the lights are arranged I could get that done. Thanks!

technically it wouldnt be permanent, you could take a grinder to the top of the nut. Pain, but would be off in a matter of min.

True...I think the welding idea is really good and I will probably do it. Yea it would be a pain but I would rather hafta deal with the grinding than buying a whole new set of lights. You're def right though.

Glad I could help! I actually am going to do something of the same when I start installing things on my truck. I had an 04' DC that had the stock step rails "removed" without my consent so I am definitely going to do something to prevent the simple removal of just a couple bolts to most of the mods I do.

My new step rails when I get them will be tack-welded after installation for example and I am still trying to think of an idea for the fender flairs. I know it's probablly a bit much but seeing how easy some of that could come off I am definitely going to invest in my investments if you know what I mean. I'm not going to pay close to a grand for something just for someone else to get it at a five finger discount...

I know what you mean...Each one of my rims has 5...yes 5 wheel locks. I dare somebody to try and steal my rims. They are all the same pattern though haha but still 5.

Welding is a good idea or maybe a crapload of Loctite. Most of these things would prevent the casual thief from taking them off, but if they wise up and bring a cordless sawzall, all bets are off. Maybe wrap the bolts and bar all the way around with 1/4" plate steel and weld her up nice and tight. The kind we used to make wood stoves out off. Unless they bring a plasma cutter, they ain't getting through that any time soon.

Might do a combo of the really strong Loctite and a tack weld. I think that will satisfy me and make it hard enough for myself to take off the lights in the future lol.

Tack weld the nuts and bolts. I've seen rigs with winches tack weld the bolts that hold the winch and the bolt that hold the mount to the frame. Nuts and bolts are cheap to replace.

Yup yup I'm doing the nuts. Wish I could tack-weld everything. I had a 99 Toyota Avalon and somebody stole the gas cap off of it. Went to fill up and was like WTF! Had a CEL til I could get a new one.

I agree with tack weld. they sell security bit kits to anyone, which means any security nuts or fasteners, any one could steel your lights, i dont think anybody going to run a grinder to take out the spot weld to steel your lights, they may take the the bull bar though..I think i read on the internet about alarms for ax lights somewere..

That is what I was going to say. I would just tack it with my MIG welder.

Me, I'd invest in a decent alarm system with a shock sensor in it. If someone tries yanking off the light bar, the alarm goes off.
