TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2007 and later Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Tires-air suspension-diesel engines", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Tires: I tow a travel trailer and when I'm not towing it, I hit back roads near Death Valley. Any suggestions on a good 6 ply?
Air suspension: I pull a travel trailer and I know a set of bags will help with the ride and level towing. Any suggestions?
Diesel engines: Somewhere on the internet I read a few stories about people pulling a 7 to 8K load and the 5.6 sounding more like an overworked chain saw. I know Mercedes makes one of the best small diesel motors. So, does anyone have any information about dropping a diesel in an 07?

You'll have a hard time finding a 6-ply in an AT. 10 ply's are what you'll be able to find.
I do recomend airbags for towing. It helps the ride, & reduces rear end sag quite a bit. I just made an appointment to have firestone air bags installed on my truck Monday.
My dad has them on his tundra, and oh what a difference when loaded.
Some years ago I had a nearly new Hino J08C-T sitting on a pallet next to my barn.... I measured every Toyota around but that thing just wasn't going to fit into anything at the time. I'm quite sure the firewall on the new Tundra at SEMA had some surgery to get it in there.... anyway, if you have some coin to spend and think you might be able to skirt the smog issues, I say look into the large variety of stuff out there... maybe take a spin over to IH8MUD.com - Home as there are plenty of diesel swap talk.

I was going to use an old nickname of mine, Unimog Dave. In a Unimog, you would look down, or up, some nasty real estate and not ask yourself can you do but, do I want to.
