TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2007 and later Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Tundra Tires....Opinions", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
My last 2 tundras, have had bf goodrich tires,AT w/ the trd pkg,and I HATE THEM! They wear fast, have terrible traction, slide all over even on wet roads. Most people want to make the tires last forever.Me-I cant wait to replace them. What is your opinion?
Are you sure that you have BFG A/Ts? My Tundra TRD came with Rugged Trails. The rugged trails are garbage and I replaced them within a couple of months.
Yup hes gotta be talking about the BFG Rugged Trails. Everyone says there garbage and wear too quick.
Get the BFG A/T KO's. You will have a new respect for BFG. If you dont take the truck off road then dont get them. There heavy as hell (being a 10ply tire w/ thick sidewalls).
Post up what kind of tire you want and im sure you will get the responses you need.
off road? if so what kind? mud? snow? dirt? rocks? logging roads?
rarely off road? gravel roads?
stricly city?
snow tire?
towing a lot and need a street? (most off road tires are 10 ply and have a high tow rating)

I would say they can't wear quick enough. The sooner these turds are worn, the sooner I can get some real tires.

Yeah i will either yank em and sell em right away,or just get better ones when i can.,they are the stock Bf goodrich tires that come on the 4x4 TRD pkg
I got a set of BFG AT KOs installed on my Tundra. 285/65/r18 and they look awesome. Just .5" taller than stock.
The third time they balanced it they got it right. Ride is a bit stiffer (that's 10 ply for ya) but it still drives similar to stock on the highway without much vibration at all. They're awesome in the rain and I'll see how they do tomorrow in the mud.
I see there are no rugged trail fans out there and Ido agree that the BFG AT's are the way go but my rugged trails got me,my tundra and my trailer up a steep loose(Glamis sand) hill with 44psi in the rear and 37 in the front. So far they seem to hold well in the rain. I guess I'll be the only one wearing them out. Then it'll be the At 's.

Word of advice rockstate.....
They tend to ball up in the mud so be careful. Everything else they are very good, but mud not so good.
