TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2007 and later Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "2008 Tundra Accessories....Advice/Ideas?", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I am buying a new 2008 Toyota Tundra Double Cab 5.7 TRD in the next couple weeks.I wanted everyones opinion on a couple accessories for it.
1-An exhaust system.I want it to sound GREAT,w guts, but also not be loud at an idle.,only when i get on it.I prefer dual exhaust, stainless steel.Without voiding warranty.Any ideas?Mufflers, etc?
2-Tires.I hate ths BF goodrich Tires, and would most likely go w/ a diff brand, and possibly bigger, but i want to keep an all terrain tire. What do you think is the biggest(tallest) tire on can put on it without raising it or lifting it? I dont want the tires rubbing, and i dont want to void the warranty.
3- Air filters/Intakes-Anything that will help fuel economy,or power?

Thanks for your input.
The magnaflow is milder than the flowmaster, but i prefer the magnaflow. I put on the 26? series magnaglow & went 3" single all the way back. I love the sound at around 1800 r's myself. You may like the flowmaster better.
Yeah, get rid of the rugged trails ASAP. They are a poor quality tire. I would recomend the KO 285/65/18. It's only 1/2" taller than stock & looks great on these trucks. Plus, you should get 50-60k miles out of them.
Don't expect a lot more power or fuel economy with an intake. I went with a AFE drop in filter just so it won't void the warranty. AFE makes the TRD drop in & it was about 1/2 the price.
If you're ok keeping the tire at a 285 or 275 width, you can go up to a 33 with no rubbing with most A/T tires. I did a lot of research before lifting my truck and putting 305's. You can also fit the 285's on the factory wheels with relative ease.
Nitto Terra Grapplers are on the wide side of any given width. Their 275/60/20 is a 33 that I have seen on stock 20's with no rubbing/no lift.
