TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2007 and later Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Garage Pro (JC Whitney) Bull Bar w/pics", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I got my black powder coat bull bar in last night from JCW, installation was a snap and it doesn't look too bad either. I also have the Garage Pro tube steps. For the price I haven't seen anything that will beat it--$139 for the tube steps and $199 for the bull bar, free shipping too with their SAVENOW coupon code.
Kind of sucks here in STL as we have to have a license plate in front as well as the back; it does not look like a bull bar with license plate would look all that great. Yours looks awesome though on the slate which is what color I have also on my CM.
I live in Missouri and still put the license plate on the front with the an Aries bullbar. I just moved the license plate up and used the holes that were originally screwed into the top of the license plate.
On my first 2007 Tundra (the one that was wrecked on the freeway) I had the same bull bar. I drilled two holes in the lower bar and mounted the front license plate to it.
Make sure you measure the bar (twice), place masking tape on the bar (I think you call it decorators tape here? the paper tape that you use for masking areas when painting) then mark where you need to drill the holes. Drill through the masking tape (this prevents your drill bit slipping and marking the finish on the bar). Select a drill bit slightly smaller than the mounting screws - this will allow you to get a good tight fit of the plate - also DO NOT over-tighten. If you over-tighten and open up the holes you drilled you are going to have to go up a size in screw to get a tight fit once more.
I don't intend to install another bull bar on my new Tundra. I am waiting to get a ranch hand; I haven't seen one I really like yet.

Looks good! Did you need to do any drilling for the tube steps and bull bar?

No drilling for either one, but to mount the bull bar you forfeit your tow hooks. I'm trying to come up with a bracket whereby I can still have tow hooks but we'll see where that leads.
Installation was less than an hour for the nerf bars and about the same for the bull bar, beer breaks included.
You think you could paint your truck silver for me so I can see what that would look like on mine?
I have been trying to decide on black or chrome for mine. That is the setup that I will be going with if I do decide to go with the black setup.
