TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2007 and later Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Oil Filter", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
When I got my tundra (04') the dealership informed me that they need to due the maintenance on the truck because there was a special oil filter (one that was spring loaded or something) just didn't make sense. Is this true. I looked online and all the major part dealers sell filters for it, I'm assuming that they will work. Any input would be great.
This oil filter the dealer talked about is for the 07+ Tundras and it's an antique rehash from the early 60's technology which i hope gets fixed before i upgrade in a couple years! I used to change cannister filters years ago daily and they were as outta date then as they are now!! useless design and PITA from the normal spinners! your 04 has normal spinner! also the green aspect of why this is a needed design is BS!!
