Default Lift and warranty question

Well my dealer was telling me if I do anything over a 4 inch lift then my warranty will be voided?

is this true???

I tried searching and can't really find a solid answer.

Look up the magnusson-moss act. It basically says that your warranty will not be voided UNLESS the dealer can prove that the part you added caused the failure of the other part.

Your ball joints will most likely not be warranted because of the lift.

For instance, if you added Exhaust and your engine blew a head gasket or what not then they cannot say that your exhaust caused the problem. They will therefore need to replace the head gasket.

I've tried to get hard answers out of another dealership in town but they keep giving me the run around. If I were 100% serious about adding a lift (and I wasn't at the time), I'd sit down with someone and say this "I am going to add a lift to my truck, I know about the M-M Act, what will NOT be covered under warranty without exception." Make them think about it because the service techs I have dealt with at this dealership hate to think or do any work for that matter.

Default Re: Lift and warranty question

At my dealership, I asked specifically about warranty issues regarding a lift. They told me that if they were to install the lift, the warranty would not be an issue. But they also stated that another dealership may not honor the same agreement. If all else failed, I would have to go to the original dealership that installed it to have any warranty work done. But to my knowledge, a decent lift rarely has any problems toward getting warranty work done.
