TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2007 and later Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "2009 Ram 1500... Do you see TUNDRA?", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Remember the spy shots of the new 09 Dodge Ram? A few of the spy shots had snippets of 2007 Tundras in the background along with the Dodge Rams. I'm sure Dodge used the Tundra as a model to improve on. You can see the Tundra in one of these pics here: PickupTruck.com - Spied: 2009 Dodge Ram 1500
Either way, I think the new Dodge Ram w/the 5.7 HEMI is going to be a kick as$ truck.
The first photo is the new Sequoia and the second one is the new caravan with big wheels?

In all seriousness the 2007 Tundra front end looks alot like the 2007 Ram and the Dodge has had that design for 10 years. So I would say its the other way around.
How does the 2009 Ram interior look like the Tundra??
Wow. the center console, shifter/ cupholder area, and the double glovebox area is a total copy. I guess these guys at Chrysler likes our Tundra, go good it has to be inside their truck.

So, they have an upper glovebox and similar shape to the cupholders. I hardly consider that copying. Hell, I wish TOYOTA had copied Dodge's interior materials! Appears to be much better quality and finish.
Exterior-wise, the Tundra mimics the looks of the current Ram...i.e. big grille and little lights. But aside from that, when you look closely, the '09 Ram doesn't actually follow the 07+ Tundra at all.
The overall shape is very different - the Ram is squared off everywhere that the Tundra is curvy and rounded. Ram has headlights on the bottom of the grille that slope down, Tundra has headlights on the top of the grille that turn up. Ram has squared off fogs while Tundra has circular fogs. Ram's hood has a hump in the center while the Tundra's hood dips in the center.
It is hard to admit, but I like what Dodge done with the interior, whether they copied it or not. Looks good and looks like better quality materials, then what we have.
I like the tool boxes on the sides of the bed, but cannot imagine how to install the bed cover over them!?!?

I am just glad that Toyota entered the market to push everyone else to make better products. Honestly, the improvements to the Tundra are very simple and logical. Why Ford, GM and Dodge never made these improvements to their vehicles is beyond me. The problem is they are still going to be 2-3 years behind Toyota.
Now that everyone else is tweaking the Tundra improvements, I can't wait to see what new stuff Toyota comes up with.
I can't believe the praise for the dodge--it's ugly. Seriously. The ram symbols everywhere don't help it either. If you were unfortuneate enough to have to buy a dodge, the last thing you want is to be reminded of it everywhere you look. One word? BARF!
