have you tried craigslist? I found some chrome mirrors with turn signal and defrost for $125, I'm taking off my black mirrors this week end.

Great write up with pics. A picture is worth a thousand words.

I'm thinking of painting my black door handles a cool match of my vehicle or painting it a chrome color. I can't find the exact color (Blue Streak Metallic) from any automotive store, so I'll probably stick with a chrome spray paint for the mirrors.

Any ideas on the steps involved to spray paint mirrors cover and handles?

Toyota Labor 3 hours ( $105 per hour ) vs 5 minutes with a 30 torx... hmm that's an easy choice.

Thank you for this post. I am going to use the money I saved toward tires wheels.

if i knew anyone would want the chrome handles. i wouldve gave mine away for the cost of shipping. i just threw them in the garbage after doing the swap for colour matched ones.

and a little note, to add to the install. when i did mine, i had a b!tch of a time, getting the screw to grab, on the rear cap pieces of the door handles. after fighting with it for about 20min. i noticed that the piece inside the door, that they get screwed to. is a plastic piece, that snaps into the door. somehow that plastic piece had just barely come unlatched. so i snapped them back in place, and voila!! it screwed together like butter.

BTW, if any one is swapping their black mirror caps for chrome. ill buy your black caps off you. just PM me.

Great write up. I ordered color-match handles from TRDSparks and with your instructions, couldn't have taken anymore than five minutes. I think it took longer for my old laptop I keep in the garage to boot up.

Sending rep points.

If anyone wants my chrome door handles shoot me a PM. Willing to trade for Slate Metallic mirror covers.

I just got chrome handles from TRD Sparks for my CrewMax. www.trdsparks.com The install time took less than an hour once I found all my tools. I put a little extra lithium grease on the contact points on the door handle. I also spent a little time cleaning the gaskets and where they were seated.

I had the same issue as Someguy123. Make sure the screws are seating correctly and have the depth necessary to reach the nut in the cap.

If you're going to pry with a screwdriver, cover it with electrical tape so you don't have any mishaps with your paint.

Mod looks great! Thanks for the post. This one should stand the test of time.
