now if we are talking regular property tax for home i got bent over and have to pay 3k this year
I know there are a lot more people paying more but that doesn't make me feel any better.
LOL ...that's nothing, Here in Miami my yearly home property tax is doubled what you pay. None for my truck though. Just yearly registration fees of $50.
In North Carolina we pay a 3% highway use tax at the time of purchase (no sales tax, so the hwy use tax is effectively your sales tax) and then pay annual property taxes based on the fair value of the vehicle. The property taxes can be used as an offset against your adjusted gross income, just like property taxes on your home.
I pay a "wheel tax" here based on the value of the vehicle. I think it was around $450 when I bought the truck. It goes down with depreciation each year.
SC sales tax is 5-6% up to $300. So $300 in sales tax, transferred my tag off my 1989 nissan beater truck. (property tax on it last year was $50ish) Property taxes due in August. I am sure it will be nasty! My brother pays $1100 in property tax for his F250 4x4 king ranch!!
