Default 6 " Pro Comp Stage I vs. Stage 2?

Before I go ahead with my 6" lift, I wanted to gather thoughts/knowledge from you guys (not just from the installer!).

I am familiar with both kits, but what I am still wondering is how different the "ride" is with the stage I and II? Is there much of a difference? For those of you who have either the Stage I or II, your input would be great! Of course, I'm open to listen to everyone's thoughts/opinions/suggestions and knowledge on this subject.

I have a 4x2, and I don't plan to go off-roading with my truck, if this helps.

Right now, I'm thinking the Stage I would be fine for me. It's such a big decision to make, especially since the price difference between the two is pretty significant.

    Thanks in advance!
    Jeff

from what you said, stage 1 sounds good for you. why spend the extra money on stage 2 when you are not going to be abusing it?

That's what the installer told me. Getting advice from the real world helps. Thanks,

I had a stage1 lift done on my truck... and the ride is very similar to the original ride - and I also do not go off road (the beach sometimes). I also would like to know about what stage2 offers. Presumably the ride is softer?

Already had my stage I lift installed several weeks ago, and VERY HAPPY. Thanks again for the input/info. Yep, my ride is almost just as good when it was stock. Since I am not going to abuse my truck...I believe I definitely made the right choice.

Every day has been very interesting out on the road, since the lift. A lot of stares and pointing...LOL
Today, a guy driving a new Tundra pulled behind me at a restaurant and wanted to know all of the info on my lift/tires/wheels. I guess he followed me, which was kinda weird...but you gotta do what you gotta do if you want information, right? LOL

To clarify, I was only taking "abusing" from a thread above...those were not my words. And if I tried to do what some of my friends do in their 4x4's, I would have to say I would be abusing MY truck, which is a 4x2

    Yes, I agree with you...a little off-roading isn't abusing a truck...but that's not what I meant.

wasn't jumping on you...just how some can be so critical to those that lift a 2WD...some are also so critical to those that like to use their trucks for play sometimes

I always thought that a stiffer suspension was better for the road as it more quickly transfers the vehicles weight to the wheels etc... but I also thought a softer suspension - one that had greater articulation (are they mutually exclusive?) was better for off road...??

I mean, you always see that guy with the "buggy" who makes it all the way up that ramp.... demonstrating how his front tires can be at two extreemly heights.

I must be missing something - and don't get me wrong, I really don't know. But I see those trucks in the Baja with really spongy suspensions. And I look at dirtbikes vs. streetbikes... sportscars vs. jeeps... and I used to be a jeep guy before the minivan-engine 07's and the suspensions were much softer than, say, my STi.

While the Stage II may indeed be stiffer and better, and a bit more expensive as I understand it, what makes it better for offroad? Presumably off road is where you would mostly use a Stage II.

Having said all that, the TRD suspension is stiffer than the non TRD, so there goes my entire argument, right?

    I don't get it.

I wouldn't pay a cent for Procomp coilovers. Get the stage 1 and invest in some really good aftermarket coilovers for the same if not less investment

    Camburg? or maybe Fox?

I was looking into the Stg II, but I cant justify spending +700 extra for PC coilovers and upgraded rear shocks.

Camburgs are SAWs. They are incredible shocks, as are Donohoes. I haven't seen the Fox shox used on a new Tundra yet.
