This is a discussion thread titled "Problems With Mp3 Cds", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Has anyone else had any issues playing mp3's off of a cd. Sometimes my audio just stops but the song time will keep going. Haven't been on here for awhile. Maybe it's already been posted, but it's really annoying(especially when my vocals are blaring and it happens). Maybe it's the file format I'm putting the disc in. Does anyone know what format these discs should be made in? Thanks in advance.
I haven't used an MP3 CD in mine, yet. With that said: Are your songs nested in a deep folder structure? What format are you using? Does the CD work OK in your PC?

I haven't had any problems at all with MP3's. Just open a CD burning folder and drag them in. I think it's the way you're burning them.

Buy your truck outside of the Gulf States Toyota monopoly if you don't want to compromise.
Is it a freshly burned disc or an old one. The info is so dense on an mp3 CD that the smallest of imperfections on the disc can have a big effect. Maybe your radio is starting to die? probably not because mine had different symptoms before it died.
Try burning them using slower speed in your PC drive. It will take longer, but better chance of having a perfect MP3 disc. I have been using the itunes software for burning and the folders, titles, album info etc. all work fine in my truck!
I have a couple of CD-RW's that I keep my favorite songs on. I reformat them and change them when I want to add new songs or get tired of old songs all MP3 format. Radio plays them fine.
I found that if you burn an mp3 cd in iTunes the cd changer/nav system really doesnt like it. aparently itunes puts each song in an individual folder making it difficult to navigate through the songs....

Use Windows Media Player or Winamp - and there are options for the file name to keep them from being in folders - I think in Itunes there may be a similar option, but I quit using it (soemthing about organizing songs into folders, etc.).
Only issue with using Windows Media Player is that sometimes you'll get some WMA files - they play fine in the truck, just a little annoying.
Does anyone else get an annoying "chirp" from some mp3 songs? I've noticed that some songs (especially alternative rock) will occasionally chirp as if there is either an artifact in the mp3 file or "too much tweeter build up" - I don't get this on the PC, just in the truck... my assumption has been that I need to remove the little dash tweeters to rectify this - I have good Polks in the doors.
